Buddy

We got Buddy through your resecue system 2 years ago and since then our lives have been so rich with Buddy and his love. He isn't just one person's dog, but all three of us. At night he takes turns sleeping with our son first and then ends up under our bed in the morning. He even lets us know when it is "his" bedtime and that we are running late. His eyes are so expressive. They are cow eyes.

A friend of my 10 year son was afraid to come over to the house because of his fear of dogs. He had some very bad experiences with them and after several trips over staying just a bit and really enjoying Buddy, he finally has come to the point that he doesn't mind Buddy, but he and his family are now in the process of adopting a Boston through your rescue organization. Just another tribute to the breed. Thank you all.

Kipper

Kipper has been with us since 10/04, and I couldn’t have imagined getting a nicer dog!! I was a little worried at first with his reactions to the 3 cats we have, but it quickly became a non-issue, as you can see by the one picture. Kipper has been a joy to have from the moment we brought him home.

He loves to snuggle with anyone willing to sit with him, and enjoys him time snuggling with his dad at night watching tv. He sleeps with our 7 year old son everynight in his bed with him. And will once in a while sneak in our bed in the middle of the night. He is excellent with our 7 year old son, who loves to play, snuggle, and chase him. He loves the fenced in backyard, and will run around wildly on occasion, which is fun to watch. He enjoys going hiking with us at various parks and will never quit, even if his tongue is hanging out...lol. And he loves to show his love with kisses. Or even give anyone at the house a "licking bath" just incase they needed one.

Y'all have a wonderful organization, and I couldn’t have imagined having a nicer more loving, wonderful dog.

Oscar

I love Oscar more than anything, and we do not know what we would do without him.  He is extremely happy.  We did find some new health problems with him, but he has seen every specialist available, and his health is currently great.  HE just seizures from time to time.  It was to the point where he would have a seizure about once a month, but now it has been about 4 months!! So, we believe we have him on the correct dosage.  He is so happy! We are happy too! This program is worthwhile, and I recommend this breed to all people who want a loving companion (but make sure you can handle the energy).  Please post this under his Happy Ending!! Thanks so much!

Sir Winston Churchill

Both sides of our family have fallen for Winston as we are not allowed to visit any of our family members unless Winston is with us.  The attached picture is taken at my wife’s parent’s house in Michigan.  Winston is also a frequent traveler to Tennessee, where he visits my parents.

PeeWee

pee wee collage2PeeWee adjusted immediately to his new home. He is a tough boy who is quickly learning our rules (doesn't like them all - but is learning!) I had sat a stuffed bear on the floor for him & he went to it immediately & is not one of several "nursing" toys. He even nurses on one of his blankets! He is learning not to "snatch" at treats, since he is realizing he does not have to share with anyone & there will be more. Though he does think the more should be immediately, his appetite is much bigger than he is! He is now on a 2cup weight control diet - Vet said he is a few pounds overweight. He thinks anything in your hands is food - he even followed me around the other day eyeing my garden gloves!!! He takes his pills (sometimes) on his beggin' strips, cries when he wants to play, he is learning not to jump. Each evening we have entertainment watching him arrange his blankets, "nesting", for his evening nap! He does not like the dark or cold! His bedtime is 7pm unless he "sacks" out earlier! He has major tunnel vision when he has his soccer ball!! He wants you to play with him & will sometimes ignore it if your don't, though he is starting to play with it more on his own. Goes crazy over any ball - when the kids next door were playing basketball he was running up & down the fence barking & crying. He has learned to sit at the kitchen door to go out and when I'm cooking he minds & goes to rug at edge of kitchen & "supervises" from there. Has been hectic but he's adopted us with lots of love - PeeWee has made himself home at his "forever" home.

Daphne

What a wonderful dog Daphne is!!  She found a hole in our fence that we were unaware of, and yet Daphneshe just stood by our front door.  The first day we had her, she didn't want to eat, the next day she starting eating.  She and Smokey have started to play (although she is still careful around him).  The only person she still shakes around is my 13 yo son and I firmly believe the reason is he wants her to play with him so badly he comes on to fast and loud for her.  Given the fact we've only had her this short period of time and she is sleeping in his bed at night, I think she was meant for us.  Thank you and the BTRNC so much for the opportunity to adopt Daphne.

Sincerely,
Denise, Chris and Zachary

Emma (formerly Corky)

Emma (formerly Corky) is such a sweet lady! On September 3, 2004 we adopted Emma and we are so glad to have her in our lives. She loves her new home and has definitely made herself at home! We can tell she’s a city dog because she’s a bit prissy and doesn’t like the grass. She prefers to stay on the sidewalks at all times. Emma loves to cuddle up with her mama and daddy on the couch. She also loves to play with her stuffed animals and boy does she love to sleep! She is so funny and we love her personality. She is the perfect dog for us. She loves to travel and will go straight to the car door and wait for you to open it. She loves to be the center of attention. She is so gentle and sweet. We absolutely adore her and so does everyone else that meets her.

Tara

October 8th, 2004 Tara is the sweetest little girl. She is two years old and gets along well with my boys (all very bigger than her). She just lets them know when to back off. She is crate trained although I feel very comfortable leaving her out when I'm gone. She plays with my collie and keeps him company. And at night, she sleeps with me and the collie (full bed). She is house trained. I've not seen anything about her that I would say is a unwanted personality fault. She is very laid back, not a real big player, just loves to be around you. While my dogs are outside playing she likes to be with me on the sofa. She eats really well. I can't see anything that someone would not love about her. Don't know about children, nor health wise. I was going to ask if I needed to take her to the vet. She had and still does a very shinny coat, so someone had taken good care of her. No big issues to report. I'll get pictures this weekend.!

Maxine

MaxineOctober 8th An update on Maxine, from her foster mom. I have had Maxine for more than a month now and she's an awesome dog. I never had any problems with her being shy or timid. I let her spend the first night here in the crate and all of my 5 dogs got familiar with her as she did with them. After the first day she hasn't even looked at the crate again! Its still sitting in the living room with the door open but she don't use it. She prefers to sleep in my bed UNDER the covers! She is NOT housetrained even though I have a doggie door and she goes in and out to bark at whatever is going on outside, she still goes potty in the house. The papers I got when I picked her up indicate that she is 7 years old, and had a 3 yr rabies shot on 12/31/02. It does not indicate if she is spayed.
She has a great admiration for me and my best friend Ruthie. She follows me EVERYWHERE until Ruthie gets here and then she is on top of her till she leaves. Other than not being housebroke she has a personality that will melt your heart and she is sooooooooooo sweet! What a LOVE!

Pete

Pete collage

I am sooo glad I have him in my life! I was absolutely supposed to have him. He has started to chew on rawhides and such and just seems at home. He loves to go for rides in the car and whenever we get ready to pull back in the driveway I tell him and Nanci "we are home now babies". I think he is starting to believe that he has a forever home now. I can't believe how Nanci loves him. There is a sweetness about him and she picked up on it the first time she saw him. She thinks she is his momma! Even though he is older than her! She watches him walk around as if to say "if you need anything, big man, I've got your back!" He is an angel sent straight from Heaven. I can't thank BTRNC enough for the blessings that I've received from ya'll! First Nanci and her puppies and now Pete. I love to see him get all excited. He turns around and around in circles and wags his little butt and tail. The vet said he has a cataract in his eye but not to worry about it. She said she knew we could handle whatever happens! I'm sure if Nanci needed to lead him around she would! I'll update with more pictures later, but I wanted ya'll to see how he was doing.

Buster

Buster-hit by a car and had a spinal injury that left him paralyzed and incontinent. He had surgery 6/16 and was adopted by one of the vet techs at the animal hospital. He is expected to recover fully from his injuries!

Chopper

Chopper

Chopper came to us from a kill shelter. He was heart worm positive, and unaltered, and had a severe case on sarcoptic mange. When Chopper first arrived at his foster home, he was given a 20 min. bath in Malseb (a medicated shampoo), the suds were brown from all the blood and dirt that covered his body.

Update to follow...

Millie

 Millie2 Millie 1 Millie 3

Millie was found running as stray and was taken in by a good Samaritan who intercepted her on her way to the pound. Here is a list of the initial findings of her condition.

A chain of mammary tumors on her right side. A tennis ball sized hernia, involving her omentum and the her uterus. This required a 2.5 hour surgery to repair. Everything was entangled in a mass of scar tissue and the vet could not get the herniated parts to budge neither in nor out of the hole. An old eye injury in her right eye has left a large pigmented scar over her pupil. The lower eye tooth is completely yellow and rotten and is scheduled to be removed. The left side of her lower lip had nearly been ripped off at some time. There is about a 3-4 inch section that hangs very low. It is probably from a dog fight, because I believe there is a scar from the puncture of the other dogs tooth where it bit through her lip and ripped through. (This is healed and does not require care.) HW+

This sweet little girl was adopted by Betsy, a member of BTRNC!

Ryli

Rylie

8/28 Update: I want you to know that I am doing well in my new home. My mom and dad spoil me rotten. They call me "Lickle Pickle" because I give so many kisses. I have my own bed, it's a king and sometimes I let them sleep with me too. Dad says I snore louder than mom.
So far I've made many friends. Mostly big dogs. They don't think I am as tough as them because of my size. Not to worry, I show them whose boss. I have play dates almost everyday. It keeps me social and fit. I just hope I don't make the society section for being on the scene.
My grandfather comes to see me while my parents are at work. We play in the backyard. When I come back in to get in my crate, I usually get an ice cube or treat. Life is good!
I am also working on walking with a leash. My mom says it is good exercise for her and needs a little companionship. She has signed us up for some sort of class where I can train me how to walk on a leash. I really think it is a class where she can learn how to hold a leash. Humans are so silly.
My parents say they are so lucky to have found me. They hug and kiss me a lot. I guess that means that I am lucky too. Give my best to Sniffles.
Love-
Lickles Pickles a/k/a Ryli

Spike Sr.

Spike Sr.

A malignant tumor was found on Spike's leg, and there may be others. The Vet advised against surgery or chemo. Spike has been adopted by BTRNC  due to the seriousness of his cancer and the uncertainty of his future. We decided that it was most important that he be able to 'take his shoes off and get comfortable', instead of making him live the rest of his life without an owner and a home to call his own - which would have been the ultimate disgrace to such a wonderful dog. Spike will live out the rest of his days with the love, and comfort this boy so richly deserves, and so freely gives. On behalf of BTRNC, we would like to thank Jan (his foster mom, and now mom) for taking on this responsibility!

Spike is an 8 year old Boston boy that has lots of gray but acts like a 2 year old who was given up by his owners for unknown reasons to be euthanized.

JUDY

Judy2

Judy has found her forever home with a wonderful family in Georgia. Judy will have a new older BT brother who is 10 years of age. Judy's new mom stays at home and will be spending lots of time with Judy.
Judy's new family fell in love with her picture on the website and are so excited about getting her that they may drive all the way up here from Georgia this week so they won't have to wait on us to arrange transport.
Another happy ending and beginning for one of our most deserving BT's!!!

Judy in chair Judy and Mom Judy and toys

Update 7/21 I want to thank everyone that made it possible for Judy to become part of our family! She is so sweet and such a very special little girl! She comes when called and listens when we are taking to her. She is so smart! Judy and my male Boston (BUDDY) get along great, just like they have always known each other! I think Buddy is in love! haha! She is a very good eater although she can be somewhat picky at times. She will tell you real quick whether she likes it or not. She can catch food when tossed at her also! We love her so so much and feel so blessed to have this sweet and loving little baby girl! We have only had her for a short while but she has already stolen our hearts! I love her so much! Thank you everyone for such a sweet and loving little girl that is now "my baby". Our family is whole again now that we have Miss Judy!!
Debra

Toby

Toby collage

Update 8/20 It's hard to believe anyone could bear to part with a dog like Toby! He has completely settled in and has us wrapped around his little paws for sure. We find ourselves rushing home in the evenings to see him. He has complete run of our house and always comes running to greet us with plenty of kisses! Whenever he sees either one of us sitting down relaxing, he gets his nylabone and comes to sit with us like maybe someone who would bring their knitting so they could knit while socializing! He loves to ride and will head toward the car when we take him out. If you open the car door he jumps right in and sits down ready to go! What a personality! He has actually started smiling now and shows his bottom teeth...adorable! He got his first bath the other day and didn't move while he was in the tub. Wash, rinse, you name it... it's ok with him. Extremely loyal and very obedient, Toby is a jewel and has become the topic of conversation. " Let's take Toby to........." or Let's go home and get Toby and ........" We are so attached to him! My husband commented the other day, it's like living with Rin Tin Tin. He keeps us entertained with his tricks. He will sit, stay, lay down, rollover and shake your hand. He will also dance on his back feet in a circle for a treat. If we come in with bags from a store, he expects a surprise of some sort and usually get it! Spoiled? You bet he is! That's why we have him! He likes to sleep with us and the other day after I had made the bed, he jumped up, moved the pillow shams and turned the bedspread down again...just wasn't ready to get up and get going quite yet, I suppose. He is about to take his first road trip with us and we know he will do fine. He loves to travel! We expected him to be a good dog, after all all Bostons are great dogs, but he continually amazes us with some of the thing he does. If he sounds like a phenomenal dog, he really is and we are so very happy to have him in our lives!

Rocky

Update 7/22 I just wanted to send a note to let you know that Rocky is doing great!! He has put on weight and has settled right in to a routine in our household (with another dog and cat!) He is the sweetest little boy and has such a unique personality - he is always making us laugh and smile!!
I feel very lucky to have Rocky come into my family's life and I know he is happy too! When I figure out how to email pictures I will send some...

Thank you again for all you do!!!
Lianne

 Holden

6/25 Update from his mom (formerly foster mom!) I wanted to let everyone know that after careful consideration, I have decided to adopt Holden! As many of you know Holden has been through quite a lot. He was turned in as a stray with a grapefruit size tumor on his Holdenhip. The vet held him for 4 weeks making attempts to locate his owner. When they failed, they contacted us before turning him over to the local humane society. I agreed to foster him and off he went on his journey from NC to Roanoke, VA. We had the tumor removed and of course updated him on all his shots prior to his departure and of course he had to be neutered. We will never know his past but I was amazed at how well trained he was. Better house broken that any male I have seen, completely acclimated to crates, beds, sofas, fenced in yards, cars and leashes. At his first evaluation at my vet, two additional tumors were located on his scrotum. These were aspirated and found to be mast cell tumors. He had a second surgery for their removal. In addition, he has an old injury to his right hind leg which not permitted to heal properly has left him with limited range of motion. This does not in any way slow him down, but since it is a little shorter than the other 3, when he gets in a hurry, he tends to pick it up and carry it along rather than compromise his balance. Holden was adopted on Memorial weekend but returned after 2 weeks. The family loved Holden very much, they were concerned regarding his ability to keep up with their young son and decided instead to get a new puppy. I happily accepted Holden back. Today, he has put on 9 pounds and is no longer the thin dog I met in late April. He does unfortunately have a new tumor on the opposite hip. My vet and I will evaluate his best course of treatment and proceed. She has been my vet for 16 years and I trust her implicitly. For those of you who were aware, my 11 year old female, Kelsey and Holden did not have the best first two weeks together. Kelsey was sick, Holden was mad because he couldn't have breakfast and the combination led to an altercation on one otherwise average Thursday morning. All has been forgiven and although my prima donna princess probably will never snuggle up with Holden, a passive truce has been declared.

I am so pleased to welcome Holden as an official member of my clan. I promise I will keep you posted on his future treatment, prognosis, and hopefully recovery.

Ernie

Still awaiting an update from Ernie's adopted family.

Ernie was surrendered by his owners because they were unable to care for him anymore. Ernie is very under weight and had been kept strictly outdoors.

Many thanks to Ana-Maria from Boston Terrier Club of Canada, National Rescue Rep, who sponsors Ernie in memory of her recently lost but forever loved Boston Terrier Simon.

Thank you Ana-Maria & Boston Terrier Club of Canada! PS Ernie gladly accepted a cuddle from his Canadian friends who played an important part in getting Ernie into our rescue. ;0)

Sara

Sara collageStill awaiting an update from Sara's adopted family.

This pretty girl was surrendered by her owners because their elderly grandmother had come to live with them and Sara was far too active for the grandmother and didn't receive enough quality time with her owners. They were very sad to see her go, as they loved her very much.

Heidi

Heidi and Logan Heidi and Logan2

Heidi with her new brother Logan

8/01 Update-I am so glad to have Heidi. She adds so much joy to my life. She is doing very well, and we have become close friends. Next spring I plan to take her for some agility training, as if she is not agile enough! She jumps up on all fours, and amazes everyone how much height such a little dog can jump. I love her smile. It is sometimes sweet and sometimes comical. She gives the comical smile when I dress her up in a Harley Davidson hat and jacket. I thank the BTRNC for letting me have this wonderful little girl.
Marci Robertson

Molly

I am so glad to have Molly.  She is such a sweet little girl and has been through so much.  She's recovering nicely from all of her surgeries and gets more and more outgoing each day...such a drastic change from when I first got her.  I've had her for a little over a month now and it's been amazing to see how much she's changed.  As she feels more comfortable and secure here, her cute little personality is really starting to come out.  She and John Wayne, who I adopted in January, are so cute together.  She absolutely worships him!  She just does not let him out of her sight.  What a wonderful couple they make!  I am so fortunate to have them.

Brooke

Charlie

Charlie became an instant part of the family when I picked her up on 16 April.  She and my other Boston (Lucy) bonded immediately and are now inseparable.  Charlie is a sweetheart who loves to play tug-o-war, chase and wrestle with Lucy all day long.  My apartment has now turned into a doggie playhouse and I couldn't be happier about it.  I don't think Lucy even remembers a time before Charlie.  These two
will even chew on the same rawhide bone together; one on one end and one on the other.  I've never seen two dogs share like that. She is now good on a leash and jumps up into my arms when I come home from work.  I love my two babies and feel so lucky to have them. Thanks to
BTRNC and all of its selfless volunteers who took the time to match me to the perfect dog, I now have a complete family.
P.S. A note from Charlie's former foster mom: Thanks also to Ashley's
parents who have rescued dogs before and know how these dogs can become a loving part of ones families.

Raleigh (formerly Peanut)

Raleigh (formerly Peanut) is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She will sit down as close as she can get to me, and look at me and wait patiently to be petted or roll over for a tummy rub. She was snoozing on the couch and boy did it look comfy, but I was at my computer (about 2 feet away) and she kept looking towards me. Then she came and lay on the floor next to me, so I moved her bed next to the computer and now she's having happy dreams right here as I type this! Also, we had our first day of "school" with a trainer - she did so well, I was very proud. She loves going for walks around the Duke campus and she has a great time playing with her new toys – but mostly she just likes being cuddled! Doesn’t she look cute in her new pink hooded sweatshirt?

George & Gracie

Just wanted to let you know that George and Gracie are doing fine.  They have had a busy time since coming here.  The first 10 days have been spent with me as I am home recovering from back surgery.  It has worked out great in that we have been able to really bond.  Both love to cuddle and sit on my lap.  We have really become attached to the little guys and really are happy they have come to live with us. George is "little Mr. Macho" dog.  He does love to cuddle.   He is funny to watch and has been just real receptive to learning commands.  He has been real attentive and learns quickly.  He has got 'sit' pretty well.  He has stayed home alone and did well in their little doggie condo.  Both he and Gracie went to the vet for a check up.  He needed his teeth cleaned so got that done as well as one tooth pulled.  He has been doing really good on the house breaking and has only made a couple of mistakes.  We did find out he is not real receptive to other dogs when we tried to introduce him to my friend's Weimeraner.  Didn't go well so at least we know now to keep him on a tight lease around other dogs.

Gracie is just a little sweetie.  She just cuddles, cuddles and cuddles. Gracie is pretty good around other dogs.   Found out she can climb as she just climbed out of their doggie condo 4 foot fence.  So now will have to put a "roof" (probably netting) over the top.  This doggie condo was where we planned to leave them during the day.  We just laughed as Gracie seemed so proud of herself for crawling out of it and we were just a little amazed.  She has an eye infection which we are treating. Vet wasn't sure if the eye was a blocked duct or an infection, so we will have her checked out in another month. We have lined up a trainer for both and will be talking to him on Saturday.  Should be fun.

So just wanted to let you know all is going well and they both have been a delight.  Thanks for all the effort in placing these little guys.

Update: 02/11/2005:

"As you recall, we adopted George and Gracie March 2004.  They have been doing just great.  They have adjusted wonderfully.  Gracie loves to chase balls and chew bones.  George has become a very much the loving little guy.  Both like to cuddle and sit on our laps.  The both gained a pound each and are looking great.

We are so happy they are in our lives.

Update 11/07

They have been doing very well.   Gracie is a just a snuggle bunnie and enjoys being queen of the house.  She has now had both her knees rebuilt and is very active and happy.  She can get around now with no pain and enjoying short walks.

We have been working on leash etiquette with both and they are doing great.  They have turned into spectacular little companions.

George is currently undergoing cancer recovery.  He had a canine tooth develop into bone cancer.  Surgery is the only treatment and he has had part of his lower jaw bone excised.  Prognosis is good with a 6 week recovery period.

Again keep up the good work as we certainly love our Bostons.  They are a great addition to our life.

Brady

10/14 Brady's doing so well. He gets to run in the woods every day, play with Borzois and Silken wind hounds. Sometimes he plays with his Boston sister Raven, they have come to an understanding, she is the boss. He loves his toys and balls, sleeps with Jeremy in his bed, loves to ride in the jeep with Jeremy, top down and all, of course buckled into his own seatbelt. He goes camping and he has his own football letter jacket which he looks very cool in and he knows it. His coat is very shiny and he is a tiny bit pudgy but mostly full of good muscles.

Max

"It's so unbelievable how in love I am w/ Max.  He's wonderful and such a great companion!  Everyone who crosses his path in the complex is enamored by him-a woman said he smiled at her the other day and she couldn't believe it!  I've seen those smiles a couple of times myself! Max is adjusting very well, and is becoming very playful too!  He loves the rope toy and another green hollow type ball that allows him to clench his mouth around!  We've been enjoying walks-he is just so amazing!!!  I'm calling him my furry son!!! My husband now, thanks to your photos, has Max as his screen saver on his computer in Haiti.I can't thank you enough for bringing Max into our lives!  He knows that he has me wrapped around his paw!

Thanks again for everything.  I am so grateful to have Max in my life, and my husband is thrilled to come home to Max-as he is ready to love in his words the 'handsome devil'!  Max sends his love!!!!!"

Josephine

   Happy Josie

Update 8/19 I picked up Miss Josephine as an owner surrender in February, and barely made it home before all roads disappeared with our excessive snowfall. Josey came into my house, and was right at home. She instantly adopted my elderly sister, who lives with me, and the love was mutual. We both fell in love with Josey . I adopted Josey in March.
Josey is a small Boston, with a "tennis ball head". She is such a good girl! Thank you, Lisa, (her former owner) for the wonderful job you did training her. She is so funny, playing with Tiff and Sam; and even when she plays by herself, she is a little clown. She listens intently to everything said, and any different sounds by turning her sweet head from one side to the other. I cannot imagine my home ever being without such a wonderful, funny, high energy little Miss Josephine.

Dewey (formerly Toby)

"We made the drive to Charlotte and Toby made it worthwhile.  We love him! ... We've had Toby for two nights now and he seems to be adapting very easily.  I really appreciate all of your help.  He is going to be a great addition to our family."

I wanted to thank you all again for being such a great help!  We have renamed Toby (my sister's cat is named Toby, that just wouldn't work!)--his new name is Dewey.  We are all so happy with him.  He has settled in and doing great in his new home.  He and Sydney are very happy together--no food issues (we feed them within feet of each other), no fighting, and we have started to leave him for short times loose in the house while we are away.  I am so glad for the opportunity to work with your group, and we have gotten the perfect little man out of this."  :)

Rocky

"My husband and I picked Rocky up a couple of Saturdays ago from a lady in SC, who had found him herself.  She took Rocky to the doctor and other than some skin infections, a nasty scar on his front paw, and a little hungry, he was in pretty good shape.  The vet said he was about 2 years old.  Since then, my husband and I fell in love with Rocky and so did my other 2 boy Bostons, Harley and Princie.  He has found his forever home with us.  So, now we are in the midst of his adoption...So, what turned out a few months ago to just checking out the website, to joining the group to fostering, to adopting, and making new friends along the way has been very positive to us.I look forward to many more happy experiences with the BTRNC."

Elaine

"Elli" is a very sweet girl, but much more shy than her counterpart, Dolly-former Emily- (who has already been adopted!! :)). Both were dumped at a high kill shelter, after spending their lives in a puppy mill, serving as little puppy makers.

Update: Elli is a wonderful little girl! Elaine is *very* calm and laid back. She loves to just sit beside you and nap while you watch TV. She is house trained and walks beautifully on a leash. She enjoys car rides and would be perfectly suited to a quite home where she could nap and follow her owner around the house. She was never very well socialized in her previous life and initially felt threatened by other dogs and was a little too interested in cats, but since she is in gentle foster care, it appears that she is getting along fine with other dogs and cats and Elaine might enjoy the company of a less assertive dog. Elli is very gentle with people and good in regard to riding in the car. She appreciates any attention she can get!

Words from a foster parent: Belle is an absolute ANGEL!!!!! She is no trouble at all. She loves to ride in the car everywhere we go. Belle has a lot of energy, and loves to play and run indoors and out!!! She gets along well with cats and dogs, but sometimes is a little too energetic for them. Belle's age is between seven and eight years old. She is completely house broken, lets you know when she needs to go potty, by sitting by the door. "Belly Button" as I affectionately call her, loves to sit and sleep right beside us, and does not like being alone!!!! She is a gem!!!! We have all really fallen in love with her, as I'm quite sure anyone would!!! I can't think of any negative qualities!! Belle just wants to be loved and treated kindly, and that certainly is the easiest thing in the world to do!!!!!!!

Jack

Update 5/25 I just wanted to update you on how much I LOOOOOOVE Jack (now Otis). He is sooo funny... quite the personality and he is now the man of the house... he definitely wants to show Rufus who's boss and always wins.... I bought them 2 toys after the vet (p.s. Otis is an angel at the vet)... and Otis insisted that both were his and Rufus cannot have either. He loves to snuggle under the covers and is amazingly good w/ his crate... he doesn't mind at all ( I have a feeling it has to do w/ the treat he gets when he goes inside... he actually runs inside it when he knows I am leaving (aka grab bookbag or purse). My friend Donna in pharmacy school has fallen in love w/ him too. She may be getting a townhouse w/ a little yard and I am working on her to rescue a Boston. We read Spike's story and I am going to donate.... Donna says its such a great org... so thanks for all u do for the little ones!

John Wayne

UPDATE (2-14-04):"John Wayne is doing great!  His vet check went perfectly...a clean bill of health.  He is such a sweet, gentle dog and has a wonderful personality. Thank you for going to such great lengths to save his life.  It's awful to think of how close he came to being euthanized. He definitely deserved a second chance. Thanks to everyone who contributed toward his vet expenses and a special thanks to his foster mom, who took such good care of him."

Woolsey aka Mr. Bones

(1-31-04): I just wanted to update you about Woolsey's first week with us. He is an amazingly lovable bundle of energy. He & Snarf sleep with Dylan each night and really seem to love each other. We've had absolutely no chewing on anything but his toys. He loves to go for walks and, when he's not napping, he's usually following someone around the house.

Thank you so much for rescuing this terrific guy. We love how big he is and we love how he wants to sit in everyone's lap. He is as gentle and sweet and lovable as he could be.

Eddie

UPDATE (1-27-04): "Everything is going great with Eddie! He is a sweet little dog. He loves Georgie and wants her to play all the time. She definitely needed an outlet for play since she gets so bored so easily. Eddie reminds us a great deal of Tucker and how ironic that just over a year past the day when Tucker died that God would bring us a new little boy! We are still seeing how he reacts to certain things and making sure that he handles the baby well, but so far so good. Thanks for all your help!"

Bartley

Update from Bartley's foster home: Just wanted to let you know that Bartley is being such a good boy.  He loves everybody that comes in the door.  If I am the only one there, he has to be touching me in some way.  This morning all three dogs went
out back and pottied and came running back in for a treat. He does like to run
around with this big smile on his face.  Bartley is a very good dog, no personality problems or aggression problems, or bad habits, and very healthy
.

Sunny (formerly Rosie)

Rosie  (12/24/03) Rosie is a high energy little girl with a lot of love to give to her people! She is about 2 yrs old and was found running as a stray when she was picked up by Animal Control.

Update (1-13-04): "I just wanted to write and let you know how happy we are with Rosie! We absolutely love her! She provides us with a lot of cuddles and kisses and I
can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want such a wonderful dog. Now that she is
a part of our lives we don't know how we ever lived without her. Thank you
for making such a wonderful match and for finding so many great homes for
all of your dogs!"

Barney

Barney is doing great and lives at the beach, where he often goes for long walks. He has turned out to be a wonderful companion and is in terrific health at 4 1/2 years old.
