The greatest reward is to see our BT's enjoy their new loving forever families. Cheers to the wonderful individuals who adopt a dog through rescues and make our work worthwhile and thanks to everyone who was involved in offering these dogs a life that they deserve.

Brandy
My family and I
adopted Brandy last year in December and from the moment we
picked her up we knew she was a blessing from God. She has
brought us so much joy. She is truly my daughter I never had. My
husband and I have one son, Bradley, he's eleven. And, now we
have our little girl. I often wonder how in the world did
we ever live without her. Brandy is 6 years old. She starts out
sleeping with our son at night, and in the wee hours of the
night she comes and jump in the bed with me and my husband. She
goes to Pet Smart every other Thursday to be pampered. We love
her so much!!!!!! I can go on for hours talking about our
Brandy, but I'll stop here for now :).
Mickey
Mickey's
doing well. Same crazy dog, but we love him. He's so spoiled,
we take him everywhere with us. He still doesn't do well with
other dogs and now that we have our nieces and nephews around,
we see how he doesn't do well with kids... (especially boys).
But like everything else, we're working on him.
I've attached a couple of
pictures we took yesterday of Mickey for you. We're one of your (I'm sure) many success
stories.
Cassie
Our
little girl, Cassie, has been with us for only three months.
Yet, I don’t remember not having her. It was a difficult
adjustment for Cassie, our other two dogs and my husband and
me. Cassie was distrustful and somewhat aggressive. Cassie has
been in many homes in her short life so this is understandable.
However, with some training for ALL of us, things have greatly
improved. Cassie is no longer aggressive and follows commands.
She has become a completely different dog; she is now the dog
that I believed and hoped she would be. She has become the best
of buds with Leo (our dog). Prior to the training Lexi (our
other dog) would not come out of our bedroom, however they now
tolerate each other. So this is a huge improvement! I have
learned a lot during the last three months. The most important
thing is that with some hard work and perseverance the reward
can be great. Cassie is a very important part of our family and
we can not imagine not having her. She is beautiful, very smart
and can be quite comical. She also has an attitude so we call
her our “Sassy Cassie.” I am sorry she has had to endure so
many homes, but their loss is our gain.
I want to give a special
thanks to Roberta and Betsy. Without their support I am not
sure we would have made it to this point. They were always
available to give us support and encouragement, and they were
not judgmental. Thank you so much for all that you do and
especially thank you for allowing Cassie to be a part of our
family.
Karson
Karson
seems to be really enjoying himself here and has, well,
become a spoiled rotten little man. He enjoys his new feline
brothers, not sure the feeling is mutual. Right now they
pretty much tolerate the little blurr of black and white. He
enjoys the park next door, and likes being under the covers
to snuggle. We are very glad that Karson got to come live
with us, and now I don't think we would be able to live
without him. We love him very much.
Thank you all so very much for everything you
did to make this a dream come true!
Baxter
You would
not recognize Baxter as the same dog you fostered. Sometimes Bob
and I look at each other and wonder if someone switched dogs on
us, because this is not the scared shaking little dog we brought
home. Since the first of the year it is like an invisible door
opened and out came a funny playful dog. Sometimes he reverts
back to the old Baxter (maybe he always will) but generally he
is much more confident. He is happy in all the rooms downstairs
and has even started to go upstairs to visit Bob in his office.
If I am in the kitchen working I don't dare turn around quickly
because I might trip over Baxter --- he knows food is in the
kitchen! When I go to feed him (yes in the kitchen!) he sticks
his nose in the pantry and tells me to hurry up. He loves to
play with plush squeaky toys. He has one shaped like a big jack
(like the kids game of pick up jacks) and he chases it and
tosses it over his head. He is convinced it is alive.
He is
doing really well with his obedience work. He knows come and sit
and down and is working on stay. At first I started out training
with a "sit", but Baxter is so food oriented that he began to
sit before I could say anything. So now I mix up all kinds of
commands and it is a riot watching him. Sometimes he just tries
to guess what I want in order to get treats.
He is
still nervous outside around other dogs but we are taking it
slowly and I think that will come considering how much he likes
to play.
Gracie
We
Jones' adopted Gracie last July in hopes of finding a furry
friend. Well, let us say, she adopted us. Not only has she
become our friend especially with treaties in hand, she has
brought us lots of laughter and joy. She loves to sit in our
laps and give us BT kisses. She is a healthy, happy 3 year old
that sometimes think she is a puppy. The BT 500 is hilarious in
our house dodging furniture and feet. We have been truly
blessed by having her.
She especially likes to ride in the car. This is her forever
home.
Daisy

This is an update from Daisy DeVore. I found
my forever home with the DeVore family,
Liz, Ed & Chris in Columbia, SC, when they adopted me from
BTRNC in June 2006, it has been 8 months, almost a year now.
I love it here and they all love me very much. My favorite
activity is sleeping, eating, and getting belly rubs. I am a
true couch potato. I am the only BT in the house and I love
ruling the roost. The DeVore family sends many thanks to
BTRNC for putting us together.
Wally

Jack
We
adopted Jack back in September. He is a great addition to our
family. He has a BT sister Lacy and Dad, Mom, Josh, Zack and
Jake. He came in trying to be a tough guy with Lacy, but he has
calmed down very nicely. I trust him to be with her now. He
looked a little thin to me when he came to us but has put on a
nice 5 pounds and his coat has improved too. He had a leg issue
when we got him. He will hold it up when running and sometimes
when he is walking. I noticed that his toe nail is completely
turned around and he has a scar from the toe up his foot. The
Vet thinks he had a sever injury in the past that was not taken
care of properly. The Vet doesn’t think he’s in any pain. I
wanted to get Jack for my youngest son Jake. This has proven to
be a great relationship. They are true buddies. Where ever Jake
is Jack is. They play all the time. Hiding Jacks ball is one of
their games. Jake hides Jacks ball and then Jack go and finds
it. Their favorite game is what Jake calls blanket hide. Jake
hides under a blanket and Jack dig at it trying to get him out.
They will do this for hours. Jack also likes to get in our lap
and do rolls and not calmly. He loves to be hugged with his
cheek to your. He’s has proven to be a lover. We are thankful to
have Jack in our family and thank you all for what you do for
these guys. They are all special.
Hermes

Maximilian
We
adopted Max at the end of August. He joins his BT brother
Butterbean, Mom, Dad, and human brother,
Ethan. He was a little pushy at first with both brothers, but
has since calmed down nicely with Ethan. He rules Butterbean,
poor guy. Max is so much smaller than Butterbean but can push
him around-no problem! They have a blast running the BT 500 in
our backyard. When we got Max he had an eye problem that should
have cleared up, it didn't. Unfortunately, he has almost no
vision in his right eye due to a deep puncture wound that he
received before coming to BTRNC. He has adapted well to his
disability. This little dog of ours has 3 passions, in this
particular order: 1. Food 2. Squirrels 3. A warm body to
curl up next to. I guess the most surprising thing that has
come out of our adopting Max is the close connection between him
and Ethan. They are kindred spirits those two. Where you see
one, you see the other. They get into loads of trouble
together! When I pick Ethan up from daycare he calls for
"Mack". Every day I have to explain that Max is at home. Once
inside, Ethan runs for Max's kennel and gets kisses through the
door. We got Max as a companion for Butterbean, but it ended up
that Ethan has dog that he adores and that he can grow up with.
It doesn't get any better than this. A big thank you to Elaine
and Roberta for helping us find Max.
Spike

Eyore
We
are doing great! Eyore does not like the cold brisk weather.
When he goes out in the mornings he hurries to finish his
business and then races us back to the me... Eyore has just fit
right in so well. He is a little jealous of Molly. He wants all
the attention but I have enough to go around.
Oreo
Oreo
came to his new home in April. The night we brought him home,
we got take-out Chinese and his fourtune cookie said "Your
dearest wish will come true". He is now known as the "King
Cookie". If there is an available lap, he is sitting in it. He
loves to play, no matter what time of day, his favorite game is
keep-away. He is the most loving dog, he gives the trademark
Boston Terrier kiss to everyone who comes to visit. He goes to
work everyday with his mom and dad. He loves the mailman and
our employees, who return his affection every chance they get.
He knows exactly what we are talking about, especially when
we're talking about him, which is always. He is the center of
attention, and he loves anything cushy, pillows, beds,
but especially laps. He is our son Mark's best friend, and
greets him every morning with a kiss attack. Our daughter
Caroline is attending college, but when Oreo knows she's coming
to visit, he waits by the door to hear her car come up the
driveway. He goes everywhere in the car, and the tellers at our
three banks give him biscuits, so he loves to see them. He is
the love of our life, and we look forward to spoiling him this
Christmas, his first of many with us.
Riley
 We
wanted to send a quick note about Riley and his best friend
Katie. We adopted Riley in mid August, and happy to report
that he quickly adapted to his new surroundings and family.
In the first few hours he chose his place on the couch and
can usually be found there napping when not playing
with Katie, with whom he plays constantly. They really seem
to enjoy each other's company. Riley's laid back
disposition really compliments Katie's very type A
behavior!
Riley has made other friends at the Boston Terrier Meetup on
Saturdays. He is such a people dog as all the BTs are
chasing each other around in the BT-500, and Riley is going
from human to human making friends with the treat holders.
He is not a big fan of the recent cold weather and would
rather curl up in his favorite spot on the couch or in one
of our laps; though he dosen't realize how big he is! In
the picture, Riley is on the left (in his favorite spot on
the couch no less) and next to him Katie on the right.
4/07 Update: Riley was adopted into our home in
August 2006. He had a small skin tumor removed from his chest in mid-January and
we just wanted to let everyone know of his successful recovery! He continues to
add more joy and love to our home each and every day.
Gypsy
 When
I was a Humane Officer, my advice to people who just had a
beloved pet die for one reason or another, was to get
another pet, as this helped the grieving process. When we
lost our beloved Hillary, we were both devestated, but I was
determined to find another Boston as soon as possible.
Checking several Boston Terrier rescue sites on the web, I
came across BTRNC. Posted on the site and available for
adopton was a picture of GYPSY. When I saw that sweet
little face, I could already tell this was one very special
and very sweet little Boston girl. Luckilly for us, our
application was processed without due, and we were informed
that we could adopt Gypsy, if we still wanted her. There
was no doubt that this was the one we wanted.
Gypsy came home with us on August 30th and it has been
"Happy Endings", ever since.
When she got here she was the sweet and meek little girl.
Never had we met a dog with such a loving heart. Over time
she has lost her meekness, but never her sweet and loving
heart. It has been such a joy to watch her personality
blossom and come into her own. Everyone that has met her
wants to take her home with them. We took her to Ohio in
October to meet her big Sister and her children, both 2
legged and 4 legged, and she was an instant hit.
Gypsy has slept in our bed since that first night and now
she thinks she owns it. She has the most curious habit of
shoving her head under my pillow and sleeping that way. At
first her brother, Charlie the Chihuahua, just tolerated
having her around and knew that she was not his former
sissy, but over time he has accepted her and they get along
great.
Gypsy, is one awesome Boston and we can't get over how
fortunate we were to find BTRNC, and the fact that she was
available for adoption. Never will we be able to thank you
enough.
Buster Brown

Lisa (renamed
Butterbean)
Butterbean
joined our extended family and has become the center of our
lives. As you can see, she is queen of the golf cart and
makes sure she gets at least one ride a
day. She spends her day walking from person to person making
sure that someone is petting her all the times. Nightimes
are spent snuggling down between my parents in their bed and
making sure she gets very comfortable. We quickly discovered
that she is not fond of thunderstorms and needs to be in
your lap if thunder is rumbling! Thank you again for finding
us such a wonderful addition to our home.
Micah
I
just wanted to let you all know that Micah (my little Meeky)
is doing just great. We have all been together three weeks
now and it seems like she has been with us forever. She is
smart and sweet (an a little sassy now and then) and we love
her dearly.
Micah has learned that she belongs with us
and that she will always be safe here. She has made herself
quite at home (as you can see from one of her favorite
resting spots). We go for long walks every day and she is
just great on the leash but she is starting to get to know
the back yard as well. She is quite taken by the birds and
the squirrels. We have not met too many of the neighborhood
dogs yet but I'm sure that it won't be too long before she
knows them all.
Micah and I will begin training classes at
Petsmart very soon and I'm sure that she will do great. She
is a very smart little girl.
Nick and I both want to thank you for putting
us together with Micah. She has found her forever home and
her forever Mom and Dad. We are eternally grateful to BTRNC.
Micah thanks you too.
Bakira
(renamed Pip)
I brought Pip (formerly Bakira)
home with me last Saturday and I can’t
even begin to tell you how wonderful she is. She is so well
trained, well behaved, smart and fun! When I brought her home
Saturday she was my shadow but only 5 days later I can tell that
she’s comfortable in
her new home. She’s
become independent and quite the explorer but is always ready to
snuggle when called. She loves her tennis balls (the miniature
ones) and will play fetch for hours. She wants to play with my
cat, Chunk but he’s not
too sure about her yet. I’m
sure in time they’ll
become friends! I can’t
thank BTRNC enough for finding Pip for me. She is perfect and I
can’t
imagine life without her! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Lulu
We
are the new adoptive parents of Lulu Belle. We have to say,
what a cute, lovable, loving, smart, sassy little dog she turned
out to be! Lulu came to live with us a few weeks ago from her
foster mom in western North Carolina. My husband drove out to
pick her up, brought her back to our house, played with her for
about an hour and a true daddy’s girl was born. From that point
on, Lulu has stuck to one or both of us like glue around the
house. It has been fun discovering her very distinct
personality, that she had a special bark for the doorbell or a
knock on the door, that she doesn’t like having her ears
touched, that she loves loves loves being rubbed on the belly,
and hates getting her little paws on wet grass. She is
constantly charging up with toys so that we will play with her.
We have nicknamed her “mooch” for her rapt attention anytime
either one of us goes into the kitchen for any reason. She has
claimed the laundry basket alcove in our bedroom as her place to
sleep, each night she carefully tugs out one of my husband’s
shirts, pulls it into her little doggie bed and curls up on
top. We have also learned things as parents, such as the
importance of elevating her food dishes and that she really does
need that last walk before bedtime!
As new parents we tried to
take lots of pictures of “little girl,” but immediately
discovered that she is profoundly camera shy, or rather that she
is “flash” shy. Unfortunately, she is also smart enough that
anytime she sees a small object shaped like a camera pointed in
her direction, she turns and runs like the wind. So we have
resorted to sneaking up with the camera phone for a few stolen
shots. Attached are the few that aren’t burry shots of her
little tail disappearing around the corner.
People say that having a pet
around reduces the stress level, and for me, being welcomed home
with unconditional love and kisses and then taking her for her
long evening walk around the neighborhood easily washes away the
workday. My husband loves to come home and play games with her,
and its usually the first time I see him smile after a long
workday.
We are happy to report that
this is definitely Lulu’s “forever” home, as they say. We enjoy
her company to no end and love her dearly. We owe a big thanks
to BTRNC!
Suma
Suma
is doing quite well. She is learning new tricks and is feeling
quite comfortable with us now. We don't know what we would do
without her. She is constantly making us smile with her little
attitude and sweet personality.
2007 Update:
Suma is happy, healthy, and
active. She enjoys camping, long walks, chewing on tennis balls,
and chasing frogs which emerge after a good Virginia rain. We
plan on getting a second BT in the near future so she'll have a
fellow playmate.

Libby
Well once again I have been
charmed and put under the spell of a Boston!!! Libby Hill AKA
Liberace, Libby of the Valley.... came to us on July 1st, as a
foster...and here we are July 26th, and we have a new permanent
member of our Family!! Maybe I ought to find other ways of
volunteering my services to BTRNC. I guess I just can't say no
to those smushy little faces, the never ending kisses, the edge
of my bed and pillow, the obstructed vision while in the car,
because they have to the best view etc..... all the things that
make us just melt, and somehow make room for another.....
Welcome home Libby Hill............
Lou
Lou is doing great. Today
Lou and Ladybug are visiting the vets for a spa day (bath, nail
trim, etc.). Lou no longer uses the crate at all. If
the boys and I go out for a bit he is here with Ladybug roaming
free in the house. Often when we return his octopus toy is
sitting on the sofa. Otherwise he doesn't pay much
attention to it. His favorite game at the moment seems to
be "squeeker ball". He starts by getting his pink squeeker
ball out and runs through the house. The boys will then
chase him. He loves it. At night Lou will often
start the night in JT's room but he usually ends up in my bed
under the covers. Even Timmy (cat) has warmed up to
him and ventured near Lou on occasion. Lou behaves like a
perfect gentleman around Timmy. We are really enjoying Lou
and he has fit right in. I bought him 2 more of the nylon
bones so that he could keep them around the house but he prefers
to "bury" them in the sofa cushions. He has a basket for
his toys and when he wants to play he will go and retrieve a toy
from the basket. He is so smart. He still takes his
medicine with cheese. He will come when I say "it's time
for Lou's cheese." He is so sweet. He prefers to be
the line leader when we go for walks and Ladybug is quite
content with that.
Rascal

Anson
Ansom is curled up at my feet.
We renamed him Handsome. Though he sometimes sneaks and gets
into things, he is slowly overcoming his shyness and now greets
my husband and I will rubs and licks. He is responding to
training to come when we call. Thanks again, we are doing fine
and giving him lots of time and attention!
Vegas
Just wanted to let you know how
Vegas is doing. He is healthy, active and right at home in his
new surroundings. He and Chloey (his adopted pug sister) had
some sibling rivalry going for awhile, but both have adapted
nicely. We all think he's a great little dog.
Pearl
Here
is a picture of our new little girl, Pearl, with her Beagle
sister, Roxy. Pearl was a little bit skittish when we first got
her home, but once we brought her into the house, she was happy
as could be. It was as if she’d lived here all her life. She and
her sister love to play chase, ball, wrestle, and “bear hug.”
One of Pearl’s favorite things to do is lie on her back in the
grass, with her head resting on the patio, enjoying the sun. Her
tongue hangs out, making her look incredibly silly. I think she
likes to work on her tan! She also loves boiled chicken day. She
thinks she’s living the pampered life. Pearl is, without a
doubt, the best dog I have ever had. She is 100% housetrained,
great on the leash, and NEVER barks! Besides that, she is so
affectionate. Her favorite place to sleep is under the blankets,
pressed to my side. This dog has never met a stranger. Everyone
she meets thinks she is adorable and we absolutely love her. She
is cute, sweet, and has the best personality! We are so happy we
got a dog from BTRNC. You guys are great! Thank you for letting
us adopt Pearl!
Mindy

Here's a pic
of Mindy in one of her two favorite snoozing spots - the
living room couch. She came w/ a limp which has completely
disappeared She eats a glucosamine "treat" every day and can
run very fast for a nine year old, especially to the food
bowl!! She is a serious chow hound, which is a challenge
since she has to lose a little weight. A friend who baby
sat for her gave her a sardine one day instead of her omega
3 capsule and an addiction was born. So I now scour the
grocery store shelves for sardines (in water only) and give
her 1/2 a sardine a day. Must be love.
She visited
a friend recently and had a ball with his 6 month old
javanese puppy ("Fidel"). Mindy scampered like a kid
playing with Fidel.
Update:
She has become as quasi-vegetarian in my quest to help
her lose a couple of pounds, important for an old dog.
She is now the green been queen. Organic of course. I
go to the tailgate market every saturday and get green
beans for her, blanch them for 1 minute in boiling water
and then give her 1/2 cup twice a day in her dog food.
That way, I can give her less kibble and she doesn't
feel deprived. She also loves carrots. About the only
time she really does a Boston 500 hundred in in the race
to her food dish in the am and pm.
She has finally learned to use her new doggie window. I
don't have a good place for a doggie door so installed a
special door in a window to the back deck that is about
10 " above the floor. I put big plastic containers on
each side of the window so she has a little platform on
each end to make it easier. It took her awhile to learn
to use the door. I think that is because she doesnt see
too well (cataracts). She goes in and out now and makes
good use of the deck and the fenced in back yard - she
likes a sun bath on pretty days like today.
Heather (renamed Beans)

Just had to let
you know that we are totally in love with "Heather" (we've
changed her name to "Beans") already. She is so cuddly and has
the best personality. She has adopted us, too... she loves her
cocker brother. I've attached a picture of the two of them
waiting for a treat after a walk.
Sadie
I want to
thank you all for making it possible for me to adopt Sadie this
weekend. I just LOVE her! She is cute as a button, and simply
a WONDERFUL dog.
Both Chris
and I instantly fell in love with Sadie when we picked her up on
Saturday. I think she has a crush on Chris...she followed him
everywhere, and he adores her too!
Sadie sniffed
and explored every inch of the house...and I think she
approves! She played, ate, napped, etc. like she's been a
member of the family forever. She fits in perfectly...and
Charlie seems to like the company. On Saturday PM she jumped in
bed and got right under the covers. So much for sleeping in the
crate...Sadie is now an official "bed dog"! And she is a VERY
good sleeper.
I'll keep you
updated on her progress and send some pictures of her in her new
home.
Again, thank
you for making this possible for me...and Sadie!
Zak
Zak
has been a welcome addition to our family. He seems to fit in
quite well with his zany personality. Whether it's going for a
walk, chewing on his bone, or cuddling with us on the couch he
is a happy Boston. We are enjoying him very much.
Samuel
I'll
tell you after only a couple of days with him, I am SO impressed. He is
SUCH a good boy!! He listens so well, doesn't get into stuff and loves
cuddling. He LOVES to watch out the window and go for walks, so we
usually take him out for about a half hour at a time about 4-5 times a
day. I think he's sniffed every inch of green space at our complex!!
Overall, I think he's doing great and seems to enjoy Noel & I as well --
I'm sure since we spoil him like no tomorrow with belly rubs and ear
scratches!
Rocky
Rocky is one of the most
wonderful dogs I have ever known. He loves to
play with the big ball in my back yard. He
likes to sleep in his own bed in my room and
sometimes in my bed! He loves his walks
everyday on his own trail called "Rocky Trail."
He gets along with our cats and LOVES his chew
toys. We are trying to teach him "drop" but
sometimes it doesn't work. He knows lots of
tricks, like shake, rollover, sit, down, and
especially "kissy face"!!!Sometimes, Rocky
get hot and goes under my bed (my mom and I
think it's very dusty, but he doesn't mind).
When my family is calm, Rocky is calm and when
we are active, he wants to play. Rocky loves to
go to the Boston Terrier Meet-Up in Richmond
once a month where he gets to play with a lot of
other Boston Terriers. They meet at the dog
park in our neighborhood. We love Rocky very
much!
Grace Zipperer for Rocky, Dylan
(brother), Michele (Mom) and Matt (Dad)
Basil (renamed Bailey)
Basil
(now named Bailey) is doing Great!! She has adjusted very well and
everyone just adores her. She loves to hang out and sleep by the fire
place especially on cold nights. She folllows me around every where,
and I couldn't be happier. When the baby cries she will go right up to
him and lick him on the arm or cheek and the baby will just start
laughing, it's so wonderful. She barks when someone that she doesn't
know comes into the house and I really like this about her, sometimes
I'll be upstairs and someone will come to the door and the only way I
know is because Bailey is barking, All bark and no bite, the perfect
little pooch! Here is a recent picture of her, she loves to stand up
and give hugs!! Thank you so much for giving us a great new addition to
our family we are forever grateful!!
Boomer
He is doing fine and feels more
and more 'at home' every day. Had two of our grandchildren (10 and
4) here yesterday, and he just loved them! We are enjoying him so
much. Still trying to get him to play. He will run and chase with
me in the yard but is not at all interested in balls or sticks.
That will come in time.
Fred
We are doing great! He's just a wonderful little
gentleman.
Yesterday was his first day alone while I was work all day, and I was
nervous. But when I got home, I was so proud of him: there were no
"surprises", no trash can problems, no messes of any kind - just a
loving boy jumping all over me to welcome me home (and I was equally
happy to see him). The folks at work tell me I look so happy, and I am -
it's true love!! I guess they're shocked that now Miss Workaholic can't
wait to get out the door! (Fred is not only king of the place; he has,
in addition to his full-time servant (me), two part-time servants
(George and Penny). And he has made friends with Dolly (the Boston next
door). He wanted to go out to see her when she was at the door last
night, so we gingerly tried it, and they got along. They went for a walk
together, pooped together (yep, you read that right), and then Fred
wanted to follow her home. I asked him "What's up with this, Romeo? Two
days ago you didn't like her, now you want to go home with her?" Anyway
- he's adjusting extremely quickly to all the new things, including the
other dogs, and seems happy, and I know I am!!
Update:
Fred is great (except for the little bit of trouble
with his knee). He is still the sweetest thing, although a lot less
timid, and blossoming more every day; getting more and more bold (and
more and more spoiled) - but he still behaves and listens. He is
WONDERFUL. I can't even tell you how much I love him!
Fred and Dolly are becoming pretty good friends - they
just feel free to run into each other's houses when the door opens, try
to share a lap when someone sits, whatever - a L-O-N-G way from the
growling and snapping Fred did the first time he met Dolly.
FYI.. Dolly is Fred's next door neighbor (also a
Boston Terrier)

Frisky is here to
stay, it seems we have adopted each other. We have had the pleasure
of fostering him from the day he left Mooresville until now. Not
until we had let him go, did we realize how empty our house felt
without his crazy ADD antics and his liveliness that races on
through the midnight hour. He has come into our home never having
lived in a house and has discovered that life as a pampered lap dog
is definitely a life for him. His spirit has amazed us and all
those that meet him. He has also found love in his girlfriend
Daisy. They have developed a little love affair that seems to get
more interesting every day. We are proud to have Frisky join our
family and look forward to helping to foster other needy dogs in the
future. Hurray!
Oliver
We
are all so thankful for all the joy that Ollie has brought this
family. Sherlock is an 11 yr old cocker spaniel but lately you
wound think he was a puppy again. Ollie is teaching him to chase
all potential predators from one window to the next (I am not
sure why we have an alarm system) Sherlock is teaching Ollie to
give respect to his elders even if it means letting them win in
a race back to the house. Ollie sleeps right up against me or me
husband and Lock takes whoever is left so it is not possible for
anyone to move. We have laughed so much just watching the two of
them and enjoying how they help bring out each others true
personality.
Ollie would like to give a special thanks to the
BTRNC for saving him and to Kate for being such a wonderful Mom
and nurse through his recovery. We are all grateful. Thank you I
can not imagine life with out him
Tootsie
This
is 6 year old Tootsie, who I just recently adopted after fostering
her for 4 months. She is just the most precious little girl, with
an underbite that makes her look like an upside down vampire.
Tootsie was found in a pound in Tyron NC where her owner put her as
she could "no longer care for her". She gets along with
everyone!!! Her new brother (Diego a 3 year old BT) and Tashia (10
year old cat); her new "cousins" - 2 Bichons; 1 Lab mix and 1
Golden/Irish mix; my boss's Standard French Poodle and his wife's
minature and toy poodles. It is incredible to me that this little
girl can get along with everyone after being deprived of her
original home.
She adjusted very quickly and fit right in here. THAT is a blessing
and the mark of a wonderful pet. Everyone that has met her, over
the past few months, just loves her little personality. As a matter
of fact, they saw how well Tootsie fit into my household and how
much she had come to love me and bond with Diego that they chipped
in and gave me the adoption money for her. That just goes to show
what a wonderful little girl she is!!
Poppy
I just wanted to give you and update on Poppy. Now
that she has a new home and last name she is ruling her daddy and
Buster. I am so glad we decided to adopt her. She is someone's loss
but our gain. It feels like she has always been a part of our family
and I am happy to find a sissy for Buster. He is very hard to
please. Thanks to everyone.
Also, Poppy says to tell everyone thank you for
giving her another chance at life. She is truly happy...love to
all.
Steffi
Steffi and I have become fast friends over the
weekend. She has slept snuggled against me for the last three nights.
She plays a little with a squeaky ball or her soft toy and she teases me
by barking at me when she wants me to notice her. (At first the barking
was just to go outside.) She comes to my chair when I am working on
school stuff and puts her head on my knee. Sometimes she sleeps in the
chair beside mine. She has gone on short errands with me in the car and
seems to love to ride. I don't know whether or not she looks forward to
my coming home to her as much as I do or not, but I am truly besotted
with her. She has the sweet gentle way of my Danny Boy and I adore her.
Toby (renamed Fred)
Toby
(who I have renamed Fred) is settling in great - he is so much fun. He
follows me around the house and loves bringing all of his toys and
chewies from downstairs to upstairs - one at a time! Ethel is slowly
warming up to him. They aren't playing together, yet, but I have a
feeling that will happen before too long. Things are still going really
well. He's the sweetest dog in the world! And so smart - he learns
things really quickly!
Taylor (renamed Buddy)

I just wanted to send you this picture of Buddy. He is such a
lovebunny. And he absolutely LOVES laying in front of the
fire. He hates being cold, and we often comment that we
can't imagine how he survived staying outside in the cold
in the winter. Poor baby, I can't bear to think about it!
Anyway, he loves his spot on the hearth, and was snoozing
peacefully, and I just wanted you to see him.
Maggie aka "Magnolia Petal"

Magnolia Petal is the formal name I have given her, but
we mostly call her Maggie, and a million other "pet" names we have for
her! From the moment she came to our house, I knew it was not going to
be a foster situation...We fell in love with her immediately, and she
fit in with our family and other pets like a glove!!!!! Maggie has
brought back a real happiness into our home and lives that was missing
for quite a while! As you can see in the picture, she is right at
home...
Lloyd
Here
is a picture of Lloyd at his
graduation from training class at Petsmart on May 17th. He has made
great strides since we adopted him in March. He loves to play with his
brother Odie, take car rides and take walks in his neighborhood.
Buster and Jasper
I just wanted to let you know that things are going great in our
household. The dogs have adjusted quite well. My cat continues to hide out
in my bedroom but the dogs have seen him and had NO reaction. They
completely ignored him so I do not anticipate any problem in that regard.
There is no way I would give these little guys up. They are a delight and a
joy to have around. I assure you they are happy and will get the best of
care. I do not know all who were involved in transporting Buster and Jasper
to Shelby so will you convey to them my sincere appreciation for their help.
You have a remarkable group of volunteers and it is obvious they care about
their charges.
Thank you so much for these precious little boys. I feel fortunate to
have them in my life.
Heidi
Where do I begin??!! Heidi is
absolutely wonderful!! I've already fallen head-over-heels for
her! (& believe she feels the same) Really - it happened during our
drive home from picking her up. We had a wonderful weekend together...
I actually didn't go to church yesterday so I could stay home with her.
She met some of the neighbor's dogs & children & was quite the little
lady. The only thing I can find that I need to work with her on is
jumping up when she's excited - she's doing really well though. Heidi
learns quickly & remembers too!
When we first got home, she checked out the entire place then found her
basket of toys. What a riot! She pulled out every one (11 of the
them)... then came running over to me & just stood there looking at me
(cocking her head back & forth) as if to say, "are ALL of these for
ME??!!" it was too cute! She does view any stuffed animal as a
challenge to see how quickly she can kill the squeaker & de-stuff it! I
guess I bought some tough toys - she's only tore a wing off the duck.
She is so well behaved & is completely housetrained! She sleeps with me
in bed & last night spent the entire night sleeping under the covers!
I brought her into work with me today - for half the day. I took her
back home at lunch. I believe it was a little overwhelming for her &
didn't want to overdo it. She couldn't get her morning nap in with
everyone coming in to say hello to her. I was thinking it might be
easier on her to bring her in for half days for the 1st week or so.
Everyone here thinks she's adorable! - which she is!!!
Anyway... I couldn't be happier. She is so sweet, & the perfect little
princess! I love her. Thank you so much for blessing me with the
privilege & honor of giving Heidi a forever home! I'll be sending pics
& additional updates soon. Take care & thank you again!!

Sam
Sam's personality and confidence continues to unfold - hour by hour, it
seems. Gina and Sam are becoming good friends, too. Sam seems to want to be
along side her a lot and she is always bumping him as they walk together. We're seeing a new Sam! He does what we call the Sam dance. Gets up on
his hind legs and sort of bounces around when he's happy. He and Gina have a
little routine they've developed. They follow each other jumping from the
bed to the loveseat - back and forth and back and forth - without touching
the floor. It's a fun game for them, I guess. Guess you've got the picture - Sam has completely stolen our hearts.
We are so grateful to BTRNC for giving us the chance to have him become a
part of our family. I know you all went out on a limb, sort of, to adopt so
far away and we appreciate your belief in us.
Buster
