Dixie
Dixie became a member of our family a few days before
Christmas 2007. She died August 4, 2008 at the age of 13 as a
result of several medical conditions that she was not able to
overcome. My husband and I loved her dearly, enjoying every
moment we had with her. I truly believe her last months were
happy ones. I want to thank BTRNC for allowing us to be
part of Dixie's life.
Korky (renamed Brody)
Brody is such a sweet, funny
little dog. He plays hard and loves his Nylabones, playing fetch, and
playing tug with one of my other two Bostons (or sometimes it is the
whole bunch at once)!! He is definitely a cuddle-bug and thinks the
only place to catch a nap is in my lap or right next to me. I am so
glad that Brody is a part of the family now. Thanks to BTRNC for
matching me with this precious new family member.
Cindy
I've attached a
picture that pretty much says it all in terms of how well Cindy has
adapted to our family! Cindy has fit in far better than I ever could
have imagined. I worried at first about whether she would feel
intimidated by her big Lab-sized siblings. However, I failed to
remember that she's a Boston Terrier... and Bostons refuse to believe
that they are small in stature! I'm certain that her big siblings would
protect her at all costs. If she barks or whines for any reason, one of
them immediately rushes to her side to make sure that she's ok. If you
mess with Cindy, you'll have to answer to Roxy, Bo, and Mason! Cindy
has also become a faithful friend to Pete, my family's blind Boston.
His world is often times a lonely place because his fear of other dogs
keeps him from making many friends. Having a little friend his size has
been so great for him.
I'm sorry to have failed my first attempt at fostering but not sorry
that we now have Cindy as a permanent resident!
Roxie
This is my girl Roxie. We adopted
her August 2007. Thanks to Betsy and Roxie's foster mom we have a
wonderful companion for us and our dog Tula. When Roxie was living with
her foster mom she told me that Roxie did not play with the other dogs
in her home. Now she has a sister Tula, and the two of them are
inseparable. They play all the time. At night they sleep with us with
Roxie right between the pillows. I can not imagine my life without
Roxie. She makes my life more complete. Thank you so much for saving
her life and making mine happier.
Charley
Thank you so much BTRNC!
Charley has been a fantastic addition to our family. He loves playing
and napping & eating – just like us! He and his fur sister,
Gracie, are inseparable. They have a collection of canvas soft
toys that they love, but, of course, the rubber ball is Charley’s
fave. He is very smart and usually knows what we want him to do
(or not do). And we had better not say the word “ride” unless we
are prepared to get knocked down by two black & white bodies
bolting for the garage door. He is a delight and we thank you and
all the volunteers who work to make happy endings possible.
Thurman, Kim, Gracie and
Charley
Luna

Luna is the sweetest little
girl and a great addition to our home. She comes out of her shell
more each day. About two weeks ago on a Friday night she just starting
playing Elway’s games of chase and tug. She has been going ever
sinceJ Elway is head over heels in love with her and though I do
not think she is there yet, I think she tolerates him really well. I
think she is very happy as she always seems to be smiling.
Thank you, BTRNC for
everything!
Tank
It has been just a couple of months since I
took him in as a foster and what a world of difference I see in his
appearance and personality.
Tank came to
us as a shy, frightened, skinny guy. As you can see from his
picture, he is no longer skinny. He is a handsome young
man. His personality has also changed. When he first came
to stay here, he was afraid to go outside alone, he gobbled his food
(as if he was afraid someone would take it away), he never picked up a
chew bone or a toy and he really did not want to play with his fur
sister Meeka.
Today Tank
and Meeka run in the back yard together, they play hard (with him
initiating the play now and again), he loves his nyla bones (he and
Meeka both like stealing them away from each other) and he no longer
fears that his food will disappear if he doesn't eat immediately.
Tank and
Meeka spent 6 days at the PetSmart Hotel over the Christmas
holiday. They shared a suite and they did very well. Tank
went to doggy day camp each day (Meeka went to private play since the
only dog she likes is Tank) and they said he loved it. I believe
he did because since he came home he bounces around like a puppy.
He has really
blossomed from the skinny, dirty dog that I picked up on a rainy day in
October. I'm so glad that I failed at fostering and that Tank has
become part of our family. We don't know what we would do without
him. We all love him dearly.
Spencer (renamed Jack)
Woof Woof! I love my new forever
home. As soon as my mom brought me home to be with my new brothers and
sister I was immediately attached and in love. My big brother Brody
whom mom also adopted has become my very best friend. I love to wrestle
with him, play tug of war, and run around in our big back yard. Brody
and I go for walks around the neighborhood everynight with mom and then
she lets us sleep in her warm bed with her. I love meeting new people
and greeting them by jumping straight up in the air like a pogo stick!
Thank you so much for giving me a chance to finally find my forever
home!
Beau

Amelia

I was excited and nervous to have Amelia join
my home nearly 3 months ago. She was fearful of strangers and
terrified of men. Somehow her anxieties subsided early on and now
it's impossible to sit down on the couch without her climbing into my
lap to give me kisses. Her brother Mackey loves to have a
companion to eat and sleep with. She is a roly poly dog that
enjoys wiggling around on the carpet. Other than the barking at
passerby's and an occasional snort or snore she is a quiet
girl that finds a corner to curl up in. My life has changed
dramatically since Amelia's addition to our family. She has
the most gentle personality and is the most affectionate dog I
have EVER met. I am thrilled every time her fear
of a stranger is overcome. I can't help but get jealous when
friend come over and she gives them all my sugar! Thank you
so much for the opportunity to have Amelia in my life.
2009 Update:
It has been over a year since I adopted Amelia in 2007. I just
wanted to let you all know how well she is doing! She and her
brother rule the house. Aside from allergies that are more severe
than initially thought, her addition to our small family has been
smooth sailing.
Lola

Emily

Oakie (renamed Quinn)
Things are working out so
beautifully with Quinn and Otto. They romp & play endlessly on the
back porch, though Quinn is still a little tentative about walking on
the pea gravel to get to the back yard. He's so funny, I think he just
stands on the bottom stair step just to have me carry him to the grass.
=}
He is so
well-behaved and it seems like he's always been a part of the family.
Thank you eternally for a great system that moved us along so smoothly
and with such joy and hope for these little Bostons. We're lovin' up on
him and he snuggles with my Mom and *she* loves it too. You've got a
great service to bring love to Boston Terriers and humans alike!
Attached is a
picture of Quinn with his new companion Otto!
Fiona
I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you
how things are going. Fiona has
made a great deal of progress! She and Freckles are now playing a
clownish game
that looks somewhat like the opening moves of a Sumu Wrestling
match. It is
funny and entertaining and let me tell you Fiona has some fast
moves! I think I
heard her mumbling...."I fly like a butterfly & sting
like a bee......"
We love her very much already. She is a joy and will be a good
companion for
Freckles. I really believe soon she will be well tolerated by the cats
and vice
versa. I am not banking on a close friendship there.......just
mutual respect!
Robbie (renamed Brody)

I received Brody (formerly Robbie) on July 1,
2007. I had not anticipated the wonderful ways in which my life
would change! I absolutely adore Brody, and he is everything that
I wanted in a dog. My mother, brother, and boyfriend are
completely taken by him as well. His transition into my home was
seamless; he is beautifully house-trained and people-trained J
Brody is a friend to all—and everyone who meets him is impressed by his
good manners and good looks. Brody enjoys having his belly
rubbed, napping (accompanied by unimaginably loud snoring), sitting in
my lap, chewing (furiously) on tennis balls, playing tug of war, and
riding in the car. (I also stumbled upon his love for cheese when
I was giving him an antibiotic.) Brody does not enjoy your
napping or talking on the phone, and he expresses that by jumping on
the (forbidden) furniture when you do so; he is also uncomfortable with
thunder and lightning (as am I, so now we both have someone to cling
to. Thank you for allowing me to adopt Brody; he is a joy. Each
day we have lap time and a ride in the car or a walk. And, as
soon as I can convince my mother, I’ll be back for another…
Winnie & Izzy

Winnie and Issy have made wonderful additions
to my larger family. Here they are pictured with two of my
grandchildren, Colesy and Julia Cotter, on a visit that we made to them
at thier home in Charlotte. Winnie and Issy have made equally good
friend with grandchildren Lee and Elizabeth - so you can say that they
are batting 1,000. They are precious, loving dogs, make friends with
everyone, and are the incomparable companions Bostons are said to be.
Thanks BTRNC!
Luci and Desi
The dogs are
definitely right at home. They are starting to play more with
our dogs and they love to snuggle. They sleep in my daughter’s bed.
They are VERY good dogs and they seem to be doing very well here. All
of the dogs are getting along and all of us really enjoy the new dogs.
Lucy and Desi are so well behaved and loving.
Missy

Clinton (renamed Kona)
It feel as though
Kona has been a part of our family for a much longer time than these
past few weeks. He and his big brother Toby are getting along
very well. They are having some trouble figuring out how to play
with each other, but that doesn't keep them from playing their own
games with us! Even though Kona is a very laid back Boston, he
loves to meet people and had an absolute blast with all of the people
in town for my sister's wedding. In addition to more laps to sit
in and belly rubs to be had, he had a bigger audience for his antics,
which included showing us how his bed doubled as a fashion
accessory! I can not tell you how grateful we are to BTRNC and
Kona's wonderful foster mothers for bringing him to us.
Petey

We hope this note finds you both well.
We are doing great here! Petey and I are in my home office just hangin
out. Of course, he’s very happy when I work from home. We have really
taken some great steps over the last 5 days. We can see him coming
around – in a few cases, sooner than we thought...He loves to look out
the back door with Justin at the rabbits in our yard. When they run
across the lawn Petey runs the same direction inside the house to uh…
catch it, hehe. Sometimes he has us laughing so hard at the things he
does...
So, there’s a lot to be learned by Petey and, just
as importantly, by us. The warm moments have far outweighed the
tough ones.
Hombre Santino
Santino has now been
with us for quite some time.... I think, he knew from the beginning
that he did not want to go anywhere....He is fitting in wonderfully and
gets along great with his siblings and even our cat. Santino is a
calming influence on our "pack" and brought lots of balance to the
family. He loves going on rides, playing soccer, chasing soap
bubbles and going to school with his brother Tike. Every morning
he engages Annie in a game of bitey face, they play wonderfully
together. Santino was special from the very start and we are truly
happy we made the decision to keep him here, where he felt safe and
loved....which he is, forever.
Buxton
Buxton is just the
addition our family needed. He has fit in perfectly with his big sister
Suma (adpoted in 2006). They have become the best of playmates and we
constantly catch them sneaking kisses to each other. Buxton's
personality has become more apparent as the days have gone by. We are
grateful that he is such a cuddly love bug! We just couldn't imagine
not having him in our home and we know Suma is grateful to have a
playmate! Thanks to all at BTRNC for making this adoption possible!
Max (renamed Ivan)

I wanted to say thank you for all of your
work. Nathan and I love Max (we have
renamed him Ivan). He is ridiculously cute and a very sweet, good boy.
He
already has a lot of fans in the neighborhood. He and the cats are very
curious
about one another and I think that they will get along just fine. There
have
already been some instances of Ivan and a cat sleeping on the bed with
us at
opposite ends. He is completely house broken, good in the crate, good
in the
car, and responds well to "no". He also knows to chew only on toys,
although he
does actually prefer the cat toys which we take away from him. We
really
appreciate all that you and everyone at BTRNC does for us and for all
the dogs.
Spike
He really is a Boston, according to his new
vet! I had the mole removed from his forearm and his toophies
cleaned. He's decided that he loves the beach and the water
now. He used to bark at it. We went to Annapolis for 10
days and he didn't make one false move. They love him up there
and he is the mascot of the Eastport Democratic Club! He loves
cheese. We are enjoying our life!
Ollie (renamed Tucker)
Tucker is doing great! I am so blessed
to have him, he is my pal. He has been with me just over 2
weeks. It is like he has been with me all of his life. He is
adjusting really well. He has met all the neighborhood dogs and
humans. They all love him and comment how well behaved he is. He
does not know a stranger. He loves chocolate Nylabones and his
mini cube (picture). He chases the cube around the living room to
get his treats. He runs after his tennis ball, but isn't quite
sure what to do with it when he gets to it. We are working on
that. Thank you so much for Tucker. He is a wonderful and
loving dog!!! I can't imagine my life without him.
2009 Update: My mom and I are on spring break this
week. I really love my mom and she loves me. We visited my
grandparents for a few days. I love grandpa the best because he
plays with me. I love when he pets me, boy does it feel
good! I love my forever home. Mommy, is even thinking about
getting me a sister. I really like to sleep in my chair by the window.
Mommy keeps the blinds open so that I can look out at my world. I
think that I will go find my chair and snuggle under my blanket and
take a nap. This part was written by my mommy:
I don't know what I waited
for to adopt a Boston. I love Tucker so much. Thank you, BTRNC,
for Tucker. He is an excellent companion. I can't imagine not
having him in my life. I have had so many comments on what a good dog
he is. We are both very happy!
Sweet Pea
Hi!
Sweet Pea here!
I wanted to let you know that my new Mommy took me on a walk yesterday
around Shelly Lake. I made it most of the way. It's a 2
mile walk and I pooped out about 2/3s of the way. Mommy carried me the rest
of the way. She did not mind.
This morning we got up early and went to the dog park! I met my
new friend Riley there (9 year old border collie). It took me
about 10 minutes but, then I played with everyone..dogs and owners
alike. It was a blast.
Now, I am trying to entice Isabella, my cat sister, to play with me...she
does not get me yet. I will keep working on her.
Woof,
Karamel
She seems to be very happy in her new home.
She has even warmed up to a good male friend of mine and rarely (if
ever) growls at him now. I know she loves her new mom, but I think she
likes him pretty well, too. She’s still not a huge fan of the crate,
but she tolerates it. She does a little whining and barking initially
when you leave her in there, but she calms down eventually. She has not
used the restroom in the crate in over a week, so I am really excited
about that. My hope is to not have to crate her but to eventually move
her into a larger space. I’m sure she knows she is going to be well
taken care of by now!!
Thanks so much for what you all at BTRNC are doing and for allowing me
the opportunity to get to know this beautiful little girl! She is a
GREAT fit for me, and I am absolutely in love with her already!!
Zeus(renamed
Brody)
What a love bug I have received! We renamed Zeus to Brody
and things are wonderful. He has settled right in here. He and
Oscar get along just fine and Bella is working on it but she is the
precious princess and is taking her sweet time. Brody loves the back
yard and would probably stay out all day if I let him. Sleeps in the
bed with Oscar and I at night and takes up most of the bed! I can't
thank you enough for introducing the two of us, he is so well behaved
and polite! Brody is helping to heal that whole in my heart. I hope you
had an enjoyable and restful vacation. Talk to you soon.
Pickles
Apparently one
Boston just wasn't enough!! Pickles is doing great! We
love her to pieces! Blue is so happy to have a friend to run around
with.
We had talked about getting Blue a friend when my husband returns from
Iraq, but after watching him cry because the cat wouldn't play with
him, I thought it might be time. And everything just seemed to fall
right
into place with Miss P!! She has settled in just fine and from the
start she let Blue know who was boss!! They love to play and run around
the back yard together! She is such a sweet heart and gives the best bt
kisses!!
Her adoptive dad is excited to meet her when he comes home from Iraq in
December, he fell in love with Blue when he was home in May!
Mike (renamed Deacon)
I just wanted to
send you a couple pictures of Mikey...whom I have renamed Deacon
=) He is such a sweetie! His personality has really
came out the past few days. Everywhere I go, he is on my
heels. I have 2 black & white shadows!! Deac loves
playing with his new brother Maverick, they play tug together
constantly. He also is very much enjoying sleeping in the bed
too! They both dive under the covers & snuggle up to
me. And boy does he
snore!!!
He is also very polite. If I am having a snack on the couch, he
sits quietly at my feet till I pat the couch to say its OK for him to
jump up. I just adore him.
November 2008 Update: Just wanted to give an update
on Deacon. He is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to
me. He is so sweet & loving, & I know he loves me
back. When I first adopted him, he was scared, skinny, unsure of
toys...now, well, lets just say he is the King of the Castle! He
is a lil butterball, eats treats like they are going out of style,
happy as can be, loves to wrestle with his other Boston brother
Maverick & his English Bulldog brother Simba. They are the
terrible threesome!! They sound like a heard of elephants romping
thru the house. But when he is done with all that, he comes &
gets under the blanket with his Mama, his most favorite place
ever!! I could not ask for a better dog! He is my
baby! Thank you again BTRNC for making me realize every day what
love is!!!!!!
Bugsi
Bugsi is doing great. He has seen his new vet
and his checkups went well. He plays ball a lot and is going for long
walks (with the leash in his mouth.)
He loves Cheerios (Dr. Jordan said they were good for him) and this
week we're trying bananas.
He sleeps in the bed and tells us when he has to use the bathroom. He
did have one #1 accident but we think that was more our fault. He's
very affectionate and he's learning when to calm down for the day.
We're all very happy and very grateful to have him. Thank you again for
everything.
Justice
Justice has been in our home for 8 days now
and it feels like he has been with us forever. He and his new brother
Bud are getting along---although Bud is much older and is having a hard
time keeping up with a youngster. Justice has mastered the dog doors
and spends a lot of his time exploring the back yard. He loves to sleep
in bed with us--sometimes he takes up the entire bed but we haven't
minded. He is a treasure and we want to thank everyone involved in
making his adoption possible.
Stanley (renamed Cooper)
Just when I thought it would not happen I have
a new man in my life............
Cooper. I cannot express enough how close I feel to my little guy and
am so
thankful to the both of you for putting the two of us together. Cooper
has
settled in to my routine with only one issue. He tends to lift his leg
in the
house, but we are working on that, and hope to resolve the issue soon.
He is
great with the other dogs he comes in contact with, little interest in
the cat,
and loves to sleep with me. Sleeping with me is somewhat of a issue in
that
when the alarm goes off I look into those big eyes, hit the snooze and
snuggle
with him, not wanting to get up. This I need to work on, not Cooper....
Trevor
Just a note to let you know that everything
has gone EXCEEDINGLY well. We truly believe Trevor knows this is his
forever home, and Scrapper seems to know that Trevor is a "mini-me" and
has taken on the role of elder statesman. (As for Rocky, he likes
everybody, so no problems there.) Scrapper lets Trevor take any of his
toys, and when Trevor hops up in our laps, Scrapper kisses him all over
his face. They played together outside all afternoon without one
negative incident. Trevor loves spinning in circles with toys in his
mouth and chasing after toys you throw for him. He's had a grand time
flitting from place to place exploring the yard. As for supper, he ate
over a cup of Beneful and some scraps of Pepperidge Farms Hearty White
Bread left over from his pill, which he took like a champ. (And there
were no negative incidents over food.) Trevor is a mighty special and
delightful little boy who's now napping on the back porch with his dad
and brothers. We're thrilled to have him aspart of our family. Thank
you all at BTRNC for making this happen.
Buddy
Sweet Buddy is adjusting well I still cannot
get him to eat in the corner of the kitchen, thus the linoleum, so his
food/water dish is in the corner of the carpeted den. He finally barked
on Sunday. He loves to chase the one albino squirrel that comes to find
bird food. He is getting to be affectionate, cuddling up beside me on
the couch and loves to ride in the car. He is the most quiet Boston
terrier I have ever seen. I guess in my childhood, my family got hold
of hyper Boston's. Buddy is quite the gentleman. Today I had my
granddaughter, who will be three months old next week, and the two of
them hit it off from the get-go. Buddy is a sweetheart and I am so
proud to be able to be able to call him my Buddy.
I am so thankful for the Boston rescue/recovery. He needed me as much
as I needed him I believe.
PeeDee

We are all adjusting
nicely. PeeDee is such a sweet, sweet boy. We are so proud of him and
love him to pieces.
We just adore PeeDee and he seems to just love us right back. He never
runs out of kisses, just like the website described. He just fits right
in. He already has his share of the bed. The first couple nights he
didn't sleep much, but now he is sleeping all night.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped us along the way throughout the
process. PeeDee is just perfect for us. We have attached some pictures
for your viewing.
Sassie
She has brought us nothing but joy from the
moment I picked her up from Greensboro. Everyone comments on how well
she has integrated into our family and how comfortable and trusting she
is around us. Sassie has such an amazing amount of personality and
intellect. She wears us out with how much she wants to play... And
POUNCE! Sunny and I have worked out some sort of system of switching
off every hour and take a break because of how much 'she runs about and
plays.
We take her all over the place with us and we are currently planning
our first vacation this summer to the mountains where we booked a dog
friendly cabin. This past weekend my parents were in town so she was
able to meet her grandparents, see the inside of a fancy hotel room and
go to the Boston Terrier Meetup at the dog park. At first she was a
little timid around the others and jump into our arms or onto our laps
when the other animals approached. She is starting to warm up quite a
bit. Barring on how well she does over the next two weeks, I am hoping
to take her to the Durham Walk for Animals. So as you can tell, I can't
say enough about how much we love her. I believe this to be a wonderful
match for our family and I can't remember the last time I smiled so
much! Thank you for everything.
Update: It will be coming up on 3
months next weekend since we have adopted Sassie dog from the BTRNC. I
just wanted to thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for
everything you did to make this such a wonderful experience. I just
cant imagine going through days without having that little shadow by my
side. She brings so much happiness to everything that we do - from
morning licks to afternoon dance parties and night time snuggles.
Our lives have changed significantly since picking up Sassie in April.
Every day is filled with so much happiness and fun. I have seen her
personality develop into more than most human beings have.
Charlotte
We are in love with
Charlotte. She is so sweet and smart and a little mischievous at times,
but we love her dearly. She is settling in pretty well at our house.
She has so much personality and charm. I have an appointment for her
April 16th to see about her tail. I'll let you know about that. She is
gaining a little weight too and she just shines all over. She loves to
go for walks, too. We just wanted to give you an update on her. We
can't imagine being without her now and we think she likes us, too.
Update:
Just an update on our Charlotte.
She is the best dog in the world. We love her so much and can't imagine
being without her. This picture was taken on July 4th. My husband
put a gate on the front porch so she can go out with us when we are
relaxing in our rocking
chairs. She loves to play and she loves to sleep. She is very healthy
and we spoil her with new toys all the time.. She is a very loved
dog!! Thank you so much for letting us adopt her. She is at
her forever home!!!
Demi (renamed Thumper)
In January, we heard about this dog that
needed a "temporary" foster home until her foster Mom came home from
vacation. We offered to watch her over the weekend. After
one day, we offered to foster "Demi" through her mange treatment.
Thankfully the wonderful organizers of BTRNC gave us that chance.
When Demi arrived at our
house, she was stinky, skinny and had no hair except for a patch
on her neck due to Demodectic Mange. In February, I spoke to
BTRNC about 'fostering to adopt' Demi. We were approved, so
Thumper - that's what we call her now - has found her forever
home. Thumper is an absolute joy in our lives. She can melt
your heart by just looking at you. She gets along great
with our other BT, Clover - they never stop playing!! She
also loves our cat Raven, I think she thinks Raven is a dog, as
well. Thumper is still being housetrained - she's quite
stubborn - but she's learning. She's getting used to her crate
but her most favorite place to be at all times is with us - under the
covers. Thumper loves all people and animals, she does not
discriminate. She's been with us for 3 months now and oh what
progress we have made. She's finally gotten a full body of fur
and it's starting to get some of that BT shine in it, too! We're
so happy that BTRNC gave us the chance to help Thumper and give her the
love and forever home that she deserves.
Milo
Milo is wonderful! The best
word I can think of to describe him is "sweet". He has adjusted well to
our home and schedule. He has only had a couple of accidents in the
house. He spends the night in the crate I have in my bedroom and
is very content, because he can see and hear me in the room. If I walk
out of the room for a few minutes, to get something from the laundry,
he becomes very alert and observant, but settles quietly again when I
return. He occasionally tries to claim one of Jordan's (my daughter)
stuffed animals, but gives it up easily when corrected.
Timmy
Timmy and Lainey are
doing great together. They play hard and sleep hard. Timmy has some
social issues when he gets close to dogs or people that he does not
know. I think he gets scared on new things and acts aggressive towards
new things. But, we are working with him on his small issues and
believe that a loving home and the fact that he is a quick learner will
be a positive towards his growth. Overall he has been a joy. He is very
smart and is a good role model most of the time for Lainey. Timmy has a
home!
Nellie (renamed Pixie)
Pixie
had a great evening! We played for a while then went to Petco. She's so
inquisitive and fun! Later in the evening, we sat on the couch and
watched the ACC basketball tournament. She snuggled between us in her
pink blanket.
This
morning we played tug then she sat in her bed as we ate breakfast.
She's truly a great dog. We're already in love! You were right about
her and food...she loves it! She can't get enough. I can see that we'll
have to be careful with her weight.
We
think she's scared to go outside...perhaps she fears being left alone
again. I can't imagine what person would not want this sweet little
creature.
Buster (renamed Ace)
Ace is great...I
changed his name...he seems to respond to it. Aspen and Ace are the
best of friends!!! Ace got his first bath last week after all of his
long playing and walks he was due. I got him special oatmeal
shampoo-due to his dry skin...it seems to work well. (right now they
are licking faces). He has a matching bed with Aspen bed however he
does not sleep on it long, he always jumps up in the bed with me and
then goes down under the covers....he is such a love bug. They were not
sharing their toys well, but they have gotten over that...I bought size
specific for each of them and then they swap all the time, so that was
a waste.
I have to tell you the funniest thing I have been laughing about all
day today with my friends at work...we went on a walk and I was afraid
that Ace could not keep up with Aspen and I (we are fast walkers) since
we go on 2 mile walks---Ace was the pace car for the walk he was ready
to keep going...poor Aspen was pooped! It was funny, not what I
expected with Ace's short legs..
Thank you so much for all that you do and for helping us find the
perfect fit for out family.
Kristin, Aspen and Ace
7/07 Update: My house is now complete,
that is with my “two boys”. When people ask whom I live with, I
simply say “my two boys” and of course, I am talking about my four
legged boys- my dogs. Aspen, my first rescue dog was such a
blessing. After two years, it was time to expand the “family” and
adopt again.
When I saw Ace, fell in love
with him, and waited hoping that he would be a good match for our
family. I was ecstatic when I finally got the call that Ace was
ready for his forever home! Aspen and Ace went through a short
adjustment period to each other of getting used to sharing their toys
and my affection. Ace and Aspen are the best of friends they run,
play and get along great! They enjoy long walks, going to the
park, and playing chase with each other in the yard. Ace loves to
play fetch, and he actually brings it back! Ace is full of
energy, love, and is such a little “gentleman”. Ace is a
great listener and is such a cuddle bug.
I am so lucky and thankful
for the North Carolina Boston Terrier Rescue Organization for bringing
us together. Ace completes our family and I must say that it is a
happy one. Ace brings so much joy to my life. Aspen loves
the company and the playmate. By the way, Ace licks and gives kisses
all the time, so I think he likes it here with us too.
Thank you so much for all that you
do to serve the community and these wonderful, sweet and loving dogs.
Thankfully yours,
Kristin,
Aspen and Ace Snodgrass
Otto
Otto is doing great!
It's like he was meant to be with us, he and Max the Pug are
getting along wonderfully! They have been playing a lot and they sleep
together on the couch. He's a great fellow!
Pugsley

Scottie
Scottie is the 3 year old foster that didn't
make it to the adoption block. He's a real love.
My 10 year old Boston,
Maggie is so much more active with Scottie to play with. She
baggers him with ropes and pull toys all the time. They just
plain wrestle sometimes. It's a crackup--considering she's about
17 and I bet he's up to 22 now or more. His backbone no
longer sticks up through the fur--that is really good. But he's
still very narrow at the back--very much skin and bone. But he
needs to gain gradually--not all at once.
Of course they both
sleep with me.
Update 6/07:
Scottie is now a perfect 26 pounds (he
arrived at 18 with his spine showing). He's very much a
puppy--rowdy, bouncy and loves to CHEW. He still gobbles his food
like someone might take it, and I have to stay with them while Maggie
eats her food more slowly, but he responds to SIT and doesn't bug
her. If I turn my back, he'll go for it--sometime she'll growl
and he'll back up but sometimes she just walks away. He sleeps
cuddled up to me--always at least his head on me. When I'm
reading or talking on the phone, he will creep up and gradually drape
himself across my lap. Still loves to put his head on my
shoulder.
Max

I cannot say thank you enough
for you guys letting me love Max!
He is the best thing! I
am already so in love with him and I cannot imagine life without him!
I thought I would share some
picture we have already taken...he seems very happy and I think he
loves me too!
Update: I wanted to take a
few moments to let you know how great Max is doing.
He has really captured my heart. He is very attached to me and I love
it...you can just see how much he loves me back.
He has made a couple of new dog 'friends and he enjoys their
company...however, I can tell he would be much happier having a full
time doggie companion.
Dallas (renamed Sir Francis Bugman)
Everything is going great! He is so
sweet and we love him! He is getting settled in and and we think he
realizes he is in his forever home. We had a fence put in a few days
after he came to live with us and he loves it!
Bleu
Blue has settled in
just fine and is enjoying his new home. He is no
longer afraid to walk on the tile floor! He enjoys running around the
house jumping from chair to couch and back again. We had our first
training class at Pet Smart on Sunday other then getting into trouble
twice for making his Monkey noises he did really good. His adoptive dad
is looking forward to meeting him when he comes home from Iraq in May
for his two weeks vacation.
Rufus
Things are going
well. His brother and sisters are all getting along great! They have
welcomed him, Muffin and Emily were a little stand-offish for a little
bit but by the end of the day they were all working well. He is still
looking around the house to check things out but has picked out his
places he loves to sleep. He and Rennie espeically are "brothers" they
chase and chase around the house after bones and balls. My grandsons
came over today for a while and Rufus was right in the middle of them
hugging, kissing being petted - I showed them his mouth and his leg and
told them about his experiences and that they needed to be careful and
not play hard with him.
Note: Rufus joins Emily and Rennie
adopted from BTRNC in 2005
Kris (renamed Boo)
Boo Boo is doing great. He has his last heartworm
treatment this week. He's gained back about 95% mobility (after being
hit by a car prior to coming to BTRNC). After nursing my little guy
back to health I just couldn't imagine giving him up. As you can see,
he & Pip love each other. Boo Boo became my foster 2 days before
Christmas. Thanks BTRNC for the best Christmas gift ever!
