Sponsor a Boston Terrier in Foster Care

With veterinary bills in the thousands each month, BTRNC cannot rely solely on adoption fees and fundraisers to make ends meet.  We must look to a community of compassionate animal lovers and ask for help. Please make a donation- no amount is too small- and support our mission to make a difference one dog at a time.  Donations will be applied to the veterinary fees of the foster dog you choose to sponsor. In the unlikely event that the dog's donations exceed the cost of veterinary care, your donation will be used to help another Boson Terrier in need.

Routine veterinary care includes vaccinations, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, microchip and spay/neuter. Many of our foster dogs require more intensive veterinary care- we will post this information as applicable.

Here's how it works:

  • Select one dog or several dogs that touch your heart

  • Click on the link and make a donation through PayPal

  • Include a message for the dog you are sponsoring

  • We'll post your message and your name as our 'thank you'

BTRNC is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible

Please use this PayPal link to sponsor the dog of your choice.

*Remember to include the name of the dog  you want to sponsor in the message box.

Adoptable Females

Aggie
aggie
Age:   6-8 years
Sex:   female
Weight:   16 lbs
Good with dogs: yes
Good with cats: unknown
Good with children: yes
Cratetrained:  with coaxing
Housetrained:  99%
Health concerns:  respiratory condition controlled by meds/"dribbling" condition; recovering from recent emergency hernia surgery
Adoption fee: $150

Aggie continues to love her new life in BTRNC Foster Care. This sweet girl is leash trained and will go into her crate even though it is not her favorite place to be. She much prefers to sleep near the window so she can see out. She is house trained and will go to the door and scratch when she needs to go outside but she has a “dribbling” issue that she has seen a specialist for. The next step may be a surgical procedure to determine if any specific issue is going on or if it is a congenital defect. She has been on hormones for this condition but it really hasn’t changed so Aggie remains a "diaper baby" while indoors. Most of the time, Aggie does sleep through the night without needing to go out. Aggie had a scare recently and had to undergo emergency surgery for a hernia but she came through like the champ that she is! Aggie takes daily medication to keep her from having chronic respiratory flare-ups and we believe that she may be closer to eight years old than six although she can still jump around like a youngster! Aggie has a good appetite and does a happy dance at chow time. She gets along well with the dogs she has met but has not been around any cats that we are aware of- she may not be a great fit for cats considering the way she looks at squirrels...lunch! She has been around some older children and did fine. When Aggie first arrived, she was tired, shy and sad but we are thrilled to report that she is thriving now! She has quickly become attached to her people, following them around the house watching them cook or clean or watch television in the afternoons. She does not require constant attention or the need to be in your lap all the time, preferring to lie next to you for comfort, she is a pleasure to have around. Her Foster Mom says that Aggie has the cutest face, one ear is up, one down giving her character and they have fallen in love with the dot on top of her head and even read about it! The dot, spot or star is associated with one of the oldest founding lines of Boston Terriers from the 1900's that were owned and bred by the Haggerty family. Many of their dogs were born with the dot on the top of their heads, and the marking became associated with the line so it is known as a “Haggerty dot”. Most dogs with this marking can be traced back to this breed line and the dot is often seen in just about any of the present kennels today. Vincent Perry, a very honored international all-breed judge, and highly respected Boston Terrier breeder called the dot "the kiss of God" and considered it the icing on the cake as far as perfect breed markings were considered. So our own Aggie has a link to some of the original Boston Terriers and not only that but Aggie is very smart, well behaved, obedient and gentle. She loves everyone she meets and will be happy to give them a few kisses! She is not a barker and is quiet when the doorbell rings. She does not play very much, but will prance around when she is happy! She absolutely loves to go on walks and rides in the car. Aggie will be a great addition to her Forever Home since she is such a gentle and loving companion. She will do best in a calmer home or apartment with adults and possibly older children and maybe with people who are home often during the day.

Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: unknown

Good with children: Yes
Cratetrained:  Yes
Housetrained:  Yes
Health concerns:  severe allergies controlled by diet at this time
Adoption fee: $350

Tinsley is a very sweet girl that is learning to live with her severe allergies provided that her regimen is followed to a tee! When Tinsley arrived in BTRNC Foster care, she required very expensive allergy shots and a daily bath but thankfully, due to tireless efforts by her Foster Mom trying new foods with Tinsley, her regimen is quite different today! Tinsley's current regimen is a special diet and a bath every three to five days with a special shampoo! She still requires weekly allergy shots but at present is on no other medications. She has come a long way! Tinsley is a bit time consuming but her Foster Mom will assure she is worth every second of trouble and she is a happy, content and well adjusted girl. Tinsley had been on our "unadoptables" list due to her previous condition with her allergies but she is now well enough to be considered for the right family that will be diligent in her healthcare.

Sex:   female
Weight:  25 lbs
Good with dogs: Yes with dogs of similar size
Good with cats:  No

Good with children: Yes
Cratetrained:  Yes
Housetrained:  Yes
Health concerns:  eye pressure spikes and small cataracts that need monitoring, seasonal allergies, luxating patella
Adoption fee: $150

Sassie’s name fits her well! She’s a sweet and sassy older gal that loves her people and wants to be near them all the time! She is house, crate and leash trained. She is gentle and gets along with children and dogs of similar size. She currently lives with another Boston Terrier in Foster Care and they get along well. Sassie can be “sassy” at meal times and is very guarded around her food! Larger dogs cause her to become aggressive and she will bark and lunge at them. Sassie has shown aggression towards cats as well. Sassie plays with her favorite toy, a stuffed leopard, often shaking it until she falls asleep with it! She also likes bones. Sassie has “pressure spikes” and small cataracts in her eye that need to be monitored every six months. Sassie was also recently diagnosed with a luxating patella and seasonal allergies which she is currently taking a dose of steroids for.  After this course of medicine, her allergies will be treated with benadryl. Sassie likes to snuggle sometimes but prefers to sleep in her dog bed, crate or on the couch. This darling girl is ready for her new home where she can get lots of attention and security.

Emmie
emmie

Age:  11 years

Sex:   female
Weight:   29 lbs
Good with dogs: yes, ignores
Good with cats:  yes, ignores

Good with children: older children
Cratetrained:  Yes
Housetrained:  Yes
Health concerns:  allergies,
mild luxating patella, partial deafness
Adoption fee: $150

Emmie is a fabulous Southern lady, an oldie but WHAT a goodie! A great fit for anyone wanting a low energy and loving girl. Emmie has come so far from when she first arrived into BTRNC Foster Care- back then she had to be hand fed in her bed- but NOW she is enjoying short walks around the block which she loves! GO EMMIE! She is housetrained and when she needs to go outside she will stomp her feet! She is cratetrained but sleeps on the couch at night. Emmie is very quiet and is fine around other dogs but she does not interact with them and has very little tolerance for canines with weak social skills! She does not like it when they get in her face or bother her and she will get huffy and may snap at them. She ignores cats as well. Emmie gets along with older children that have been taught how to interact with dogs properly- she is not a fit for younger ones because she cannot be pushed or pulled on. Emmie has a mild luxating patella that does not slow her down and she has lost part of her hearing over the years. Emmie was a puppymill rescue and has never played with toys but she does like to build a “nest” with her blankie or a rug to relax on. She also likes to be pampered and enjoys baths.  She may even jump back into the tub if she isn't through! Emmie also likes to sunbathe, go for car rides and to dance for treats, treats, treats! Emmie likes to be petted, get back scratches and snuggle with you. She wants to be around her people and responds very well to attention and affection. Emmie knows the hand gestures for “come” and “go outside”.  If you look at her and then at the kitchen, she will follow you and sometimes when she is hungry she will stomp her feet to let you know! She does not bark or jump on people. Emmie would love a new family that has a doggy door, a quiet sunny porch, a fenced yard and as few stairs as possible to live out her golden years. She deserves to be treated with love and attention for the rest of her days.

Prissy
Prissy
prissy

Age:  5 years
Sex:   female
Weight:   19.5
Good with dogs: not with alpha females
Good with cats:  unknown

Good with children: maybe with older kids
Cratetrained:  Yes
Housetrained:  yes, doggy door
Health concerns: atrophied leg, dislocated shoulder,
fatal bee/wasp allergy, highly sensitive to benadryl
Adoption fee: $350

Prissy is living the high life of a “priss” in BTRNC Foster Care- a far cry from before. Miss Priss has blossomed from a shy soul into an affectionate one and along the way she found her voice! Prissy will forever have a reminder of her former life because she only has the use of three of her legs- the result of an untreated fracture. She uses her atrophied leg for balance or to move objects around. You may think a disabled dog could be a burden to take care of but this girl will prove you wrong! Prissy recently underwent prolo-therapy that built up some muscles to better deal with the stress of use. Her weight cannot exceed twenty lbs due to the strain on her spine. Her shoulder is dislocated and will need to be addressed if she undergoes anesthesia. Prissy is deathly allergic to stinging insects and extreme caution must be used anywhere they might be. Prissy is also highly sensitive to Benadryl. Prissy is leash and house trained. She is crate trained and has to have cardboard to cover the bottom half so her leg does not get caught. She prefers her dog bed and sleeps there during the day. Prissy is doggy door trained and has never had an accident. Prissy gets along with dogs unless one is an alpha female but she will not share her toys with any dog.  She likes to play “keep away”. Prissy has had to fend for herself so she is defensive around females but she is not aggressive towards the ailing female she lives with. We have not observed her behavior around cats at this point. Prissy treats the few children she has met the same way she treats everyone- with a sniff and a lick and she does not jump. Prissy prefers men over women and she is cautious around strangers but not aggressive. She gets anxious at the vet’s office and does not like to be left alone at home and will go to the back door to make extra sure she cannot go! Prissy will remind you if get off schedule- she will lay down in the floor and she will bark at you at meal time! Prissy can be a “jumping bean” and can climb a fence or get her limb caught in it so a watchful eye will be necessary. She can scale your body like a cat or jump on your counters if she is confined. She does like to burrow in her blankets and be near you and she gives a few kisses. Prissy goes to work with her Foster Mom sometimes and she loves the recliner arm at home where she watches the squirrels and rabbits…oh, she would like to catch one of those (at least that’s what it sounds like this “chatter box” is saying!) Prissy loves to ride in the car and would play “tug” until your arm fell off if you’d let her! She will fetch a ball and might give it back if you insist on it and she loves it if you kick her big ball around the yard! Prissy has to be watched because she will go until she drops, not a good thing for her disabled limb. If her play is not limited, she gets sore and has difficulty getting up and she will cry. Prissy may always have difficulties as she ages. Her favorite indoor game is “fetch” up and down the stairs which has to be limited as well. After playing outside she likes a dip in the wading pool and will stand still for you to dry her off, being ever so careful of her leg since it is very sensitive. She is very smart and knows these commands and verbal cues, “sit”, “stay”, “come”, “leave it”, “down”, “crate”, “walk”, “go”, “eat”, “off”, “treat” and “outside”. Prissy loves attention and to be with her “people”. She is looking for a forever family that will continue to give her the life of luxury this “priss” deserves.

Mocha
Age:  5 years
Sex:   female
Weight:   21 lbs
Good with dogs: yes
Good with cats:  unknown

Good with children:  yes
Cratetrained:  yes
Housetrained:  yes
Health concerns:  inverted vulva may cause recurrent
vaginitis, small growth on leg, cracked molar
Adoption fee: $350

Anybody up for a “Venti Mocha Latte”? This little girl is large on life like the famous Starbucks “venti” size and she is as “Mocha” as a Boston Terrier can be and the “latte” well, she has a “latte” of personality! Eight months ago, Mocha came into BTRNC Foster Care a fearful, “need to be in control”, anxious aqnd terrified girl that was labeled as “behavorial” but after much observation and patience, it has become clear to her Foster Mom that Mocha did not understand clear leadership. Mocha was allowed to dominate her former family and therefore took over- it is not a natural occurrence for a dog to lead a human so this led to her being labeled “behavioral”. Mocha suffered from food aggression, separation anxiety and would bark excessively when her Foster Family was leaving the house. Guidance, clear boundaries, consistent leadership and direction have made Mocha a very grounded and stable girl and she no longer exhibits ANY of these behaviors! She has made enormous strides and we are so proud of her! She is very intelligent and requires physical and mental stimulation and would be a good candidate for agility or fly ball. Mocha is crate and house trained and has mastered using a doggy door! Mocha is a high energy girl and absolutely will require daily walks and she can go for miles! She is good, gentle and curious when meeting other canines but she may play too rough for a younger dog, she is not aggressive but does enjoy rough play but is easily redirected. We have not observed Mocha around cats but she loves children. Her rough play can be misinterpreted so supervision is as must! Mocha’s vulva developed abnormally causing her to have a tendency to develop vaginitis periodically. She also has a growth on her inner leg that has been looked at by two veterinarians and determined to be nothing to be concerned about as well as a cracked molar that is not bothersome at this time. When meeting new people or when strangers come to visit, Mocha is still a bit shy at first and may back away. She is working on her “doorbell” manners currently because she gets super excited when she hears it! At first, Mocha did not even want to be touched and was not a typical loving girl but now she gives kisses and snuggles with her Foster Family! Mocha has improved greatly with her anxiety in the car and will even lay down and nap on car rides and they do not exit the car until she is completely calm. Mocha loves to play and will bring you her ball over and over and over again, a whole “latte” times! She also will lay on her back and balance her ball on her front feet, pop it up in the air and catch it! Mocha also enjoys “tug”, playing with stuffies and chewing on bones. Like we said, Mocha has a whole “latte” smarts and she knows the commands and verbal cues of “sit”, “shake”, “come”, “down”, “in your crate”, “walk” and “go outside”. She also attended obedience class previously. Mocha needs a “venti” energy family with a canine companion. Mocha MUST have a committed and strong leader that will convince her that she is not in charge, giving her clear and consistent direction and she responds well to it. SO who is in the mood for a “Venti Mocha Latte”?

LulaBelle is doing well in BTRNC Foster Care. She is an older gal that was in need of some TLC and she is enjoying every minute of it! She has completed her treatment for the heartworms she came to us with so she is ready to find her forever home! She has also gained some much needed weight! Lulabelle is house and crate trained and is loving the walks she gets to take now that she can have more activity in her daily schedule! LulaBelle does not care for her canine sibling which is a young deaf female but she gets along with males as long as they are not bigger than her. We also are not sure how she would react around children or cats although she is pretty calm. LulaBelle has learned that she is safe and loved and will now snuggle with her Foster Mom on the couch and bed and will nudge her hands to be petted whereas before she would not even sit near her! Lulabelle will also lay on her back for belly rubs and loves to have visitors come over to pet her! LulaBelle enjoys “watching TV” and chewing on rawhides and will give kisses sometimes! She is a smart girl and has learned the commands “sit” "shake" and “go to your room” and the words “hungry/eat”, “treat/cookie” and “go outside”. She is the sweetest thing ever and flaps her cheeks when she sleeps, she is very easy! LulaBelle is looking for someone to love her a lot! She needs it and deserves it!

Sparkle

This “SPARKLE"-Y girl has settled in nicely to life in BTRNC Foster Care. She jumps around and gets super excited when her Foster Mom comes home or when it’s time for a walk! Other times, she is very laid-back and just wants to snuggle and sleep. Sparkle is leash trained but is an older gal and can't stay in her crate for over two hours without needing to go potty. Sparkle has to be kept on a strict potty schedule because she does have to go outside often. She will go to the door to let you know she needs to go but if you are not home, she is potty-pad trained. She mostly ignores dogs but she can be a bit territorial. She ignores cats but we have not observed her with children at this point. Sparkle is missing most of her teeth so she is on a soft/dry food mix two times a day. Sparkle loves to give kisses, get treats and she is very smart- she knows how to “sit” and “come” and recognizes the words “hungry/eat”, “treat/cookie” and “go outside”. Sparkle also does a great Elvis impersonation by curling one side of her lip! She loves to be spoiled and being taken care of so if you have room for a little more “SPARKLE” in your life, please consider this older gal!

Housetrained: 90% in fair weather; knows how to use a doggie door
Health concerns:  low grade luxating patella
Adoption fee: $350

Oh BABY! Baby first arrived into BTRNC Foster Care with what we believe is her daughter or sister, Attie, who has found her forever home. Their personalities were so different that they will be fine living separate lives. Where Baby always needs a playmate or a toy to entertain herself with, Attie just needed a lap for cuddling! Baby is crate trained and as long as the weather is fair, she is almost there on her house training by using the doggy door! She is not a fan of inclement weather and on those days, outside trips are at her Foster Mom's suggestion and not her own! Baby gets along with all dogs unconditionally and loves to play! We have not observed her behavior around cats but Baby loves children! At their first vet check, Baby was found to have a life threatening uterine infection, heartworms and demodex mange. She has completed all her treatments and is looking for her forever home! Baby is a small dog with bowed legs so her knee caps aren't in place like they should be.  As she ages, the patellas may become problematic but for now they are fine and do not require surgery. Baby used to have to be fed in her closed crate but now that she understands that she will be getting her next meal, she eats with her crate door opened. Baby gets super excited when first greeting anyone and is trying hard to calm down! Baby loves to give kisses, snuggle and chew on bones. She is very smart and knows the following commands “sit”, “come”, “leave it” and will “kennel” up for a treat. Baby also knows the commands lay “down” and “off/no jump” and the words “no” “go bye-bye”, “hungry/eat” and “go outside”. Baby is calm and steady and takes everything in stride, she is looking for a home with lots and lots of toys, and/or a canine playmate and a fenced in yard. Who needs another BABY in the family?

Dora....Dora the explorer....a great name for this girl who arrived by airplane to BTRNC Foster Care. She was rescued from a puppymill and is busy learning all about "just being a dog"... when she first arrived, part of her exploring included digging holes. We know that Dora was just scared and confused but she has adjusted well considering all she has had to learn! Dora is house and crate trained but is still working on the brand new leash walking thing! She gets along great with dogs and children and ignores cats! Sometimes she even thinks she is a cat and will walk on the top of the sofa or sleep on shelves! Dora is somewhat fearful of men. Dora has a slight heart murmur, a hernia, and requires daily eye drops. Dora likes to give kisses and snuggle and although she does not play with toys, she loves to chew on bones. Dora is a total sweetheart and is pretty laid back and gets so excited to meet people now that she knows that they won't hurt her! Dora does need a family that will be devoted and understanding to helping her learn about "just being a dog". She had a traumatic past and needs compassion. Dora will need a fenced in yard to do her exploring but does need a watchful eye on her digging! She would love a canine or feline companion and children who are patient with her as she continues to trust. So, who's ready to do some exploring with Dora?

Just like Popeye's SWEETPEA landed on his doorstep, our very own SWEETPEA has landed on ours! Sweetpea is crate, house and leash trained and gets along with male dogs after an adjustment/warm-up period. We have not observed her around females at this point. She does play a bit rough with other dogs which could provoke them and when she came into Foster Care, she was a bit toy, food and fear aggressive but she has gotten comfortable and is doing great with these behaviors now. Sweetpea has not been around cats or younger children while in the care of BTRNC. Sweetpea needs to take her time with strangers at first but once she understands that they will not hurt her, she is fine with them. She LOVES to give kisses, sit on your lap for belly rubs and snuggles and burrow in her blankets. Sweetpea also enjoys riding in the car, playing “chase”, de-stuffing toys and tennis balls and chewing on nylabones. In her defense, she would like to let you know that to a dog slippers do look A LOT like stuffy toys! She is a smart girl and knows the commands and verbal cues “sit”, “in your crate”, “walk”, “go” “eat” “cookie” and “outside”.  Sweetpea is also working on “stay” and “come”. She is great alone and can entertain herself but she also loves other dogs. She loves to please, is trustworthy and is easy to train. Health concerns: pulmonary hypertension, right side congestive heart failure controlled with medication
Adoption fee: $350

Sophia is settling in nicely to life in BTRNC Foster Care. She is a young lady who is exuberant in spirit! Sophia is crate and house trained and although she is not out of control on a leash, she is a “work in progress!” Sophia does make attempts to dominate other dogs and can be aggressive.  This behavior is being addressed currently. Any introduction to other dogs needs to be in a calm and controlled environment. She has gotten along okay with the young children she has met but it has been very limited contact. She has not been around older children or cats while in our care. Sophia is currently working with a cardiologist to try and determine the cause of her pulmonary hypertension. She requires several monthly medications for this condition and also for right side congestive heart failure. Once Sophia is released from the cardiologist, she will be spayed and will start looking for her forever home! Although Sophia does have heart problems, it does not stop her from trying to squeeze through the fence posts or from clearing the baby gates in the house. This “wanna-be” escape artist will need to be watched closely! Sophia is a very clingy "people" dog and loves, loves, loves to give kisses at any opportunity.  She will snuggle with you and match you step for step if you get up and leave her! She likes to burrow in her blankets and play “tug” and chew on toys. Her favorite past time seems to be “catching bugs”, imaginary ones! She licks and licks the air when there is nothing there! This may be a nervous habit that will work itself out in time. She has been busy learning some commands and verbal cues such as “sit”, “come”, “ride”, “supper”, “potty”, “sleep” and “cookie”. She is working on several others as well! Sophia is a personable gal and has a wonderful rapport with everyone she meets. She will need a family that is understanding of her medical conditions and because she is such a “people” dog, she may be best suited in an “only” dog family.

Daisy
Adoption Pending
daisy Age:  10 months
Sex:   female
Weight:  12  lbs
Good with dogs: yes

Good with cats:  yes, plays!
Good with children: with observation
Cratetrained: yes
Housetrained:  in progress
Health concerns: awaiting surgery for luxating patella; grain free diet
Adoption fee: $350

Daisy is an extremely high energy pup, although her activity is limited at this time. Once she is one hundred percent, watch out world for this tiny ball of SPEED! Daisy would not be a good “starter” Boston Terrier but a much better fit for someone familiar with the “spaz-like” behaviors of this breed when they are young pups. Daisy is crate trained and sleeps in a playpen at night. She is not house trained at this point although daily training is in progress and she has had accidents in her crate. Daisy’s leash walking is very limited due to her knee issue at this time. Daisy loves other dogs and while she may try and mount dogs around her same size to establish her place in the pack, she is submissive around larger dogs. Daisy loves to chase and play with her feline siblings, but when they turn around to swat her, she gets scared! Daisy loves children but because of her extreme hyper activity, she could easily scratch them so she does need to be observed around children. Daisy has a luxating patella in both of her rear legs. One is a grade four, which is the highest grade and she will be having surgery to correct this leg prior to adoption. The other leg is being evaluated very soon and we will have more information to post on that situation. Daisy takes a vet prescribed daily joint supplement and will require this for the rest of her life. It runs around $65 per bottle. Daisy vomits when she is over excited and she is over excited frequently. There is some history in her medical records that states she has a sensitive stomach and she requires a grain free diet and elevated feeding bowls. These bowls help to keep her vomiting less frequent. Daisy has a tendency to eat anything she can find so she needs to be carefully monitored at all times. Daisy has very little fur and gets cold easily. She needs a coat when it is cold, rainy or snowy. Daisy is busy, busy, busy as we said and there is little time in her schedule for kissing. She may give a tiny lick or two right after she just wakes up but then she’s off again to play! She loves her nylabone, chew toys and ropes! She likes to play fetch, is wonderful in the car, and likes to snuggle with her canine pals. If there is a stick anywhere in Daisy’s vicinity, she will find it. She would rather fetch sticks than balls, and as if this little spit fire needs anymore energy, she has been known to try her Foster Mom ‘s cup of Joe if she can reach it! Can you imagine- A Boston Terrier Puppy on CAFFEINE! It does take two to currently give Daisy a bath. She hasn’t met a stranger and loves everyone! Daisy knows the command “come” depending on her mood but she will always follow you to the door! She does know the word “uh-uh” instead of the command “off” and the words “dinner” and “bones” for a cookie or treat. Daisy recently learned how to "sit" and she loves showing this new trick! Daisy was enrolled in obedience classes, but due to the severity of her grade four patella, the previous owners were encouraged to stop the classes until they could get it repaired. They could not afford the surgery so they surrendered Daisy to BTRNC. Daisy, as we’ve said, is very high energy and high maintenance and will need a family that can invest a lot of time in her. She has two switches- ON and OFF! That being said, Daisy is very sweet and super adorable but is one feisty little growing girl! Stay posted for updates on her surgery and recovery!

Button is “cute as a BUTTON”! She is a “not-so-little” new girl to BTRNC Foster Care. She is very confused and still looking for her owner who is sick and can no longer take care of her. Buttons is house, crate and leash trained. She ignores her canine pals she lives with and we have not observed her around cats or children. Button has allergies that she takes weekly shots and baths for. She is in the process of being re-evaluated by a dermatologist so we will have more information to report on her soon. Button is not really a kisser but will snuggle a little while with her Foster Mom. She used to love to lay with her former owner though. Button loves to burrow with her old blanket, ride in the car and play “fetch” and she attended obedience school as a puppy. Button is a really sweet girl that comes when called and obeys her Foster Mom very well.

Let's get "Jiggy" with Jiggs! This beautiful girl has come a long, long way since she first arrived in BTRNC Foster Care. She has completed treatment for worms, bacterial and fungal infections due to flea allergies and has finished treatment for a serious case of encapsulated mastitis that included three drains. Her hair is growing back in from the flea infestation; she has reached her goal weight and is up to date on all her vaccinations. You would have never have known any of Jigg’s discomforts because she is such a well mannered and sweet tempered girl. We suspect that at some point in her life, she was loved because of her temperament. Now, that she has been down that long recovery road, she can be spayed and Jiggs can get her “jiggy” back and find her forever family! Jiggs is crate trained and shares her crate with one of her Foster Siblings for nap time. At night, when you tell Jiggs “bedtime”, she will dance her way to her crate in the people bedroom (her Foster Mom says it might be for the milk-bone though!) and this is where she sleeps, comforted by the presence of her people. She is housetrained and wiggles, bounces and hops her way to the backdoor when you say “outside”, then Jiggs literally does a little “jig” by spinning around every time before she potties! Jigg’s has had an occasional accident when her Foster Mom was preoccupied with another task but as long as she stays on schedule, she is house trained. She loves her 3-4 daily walks and is leash trained. Jigg’s is great with other dogs and is curious, but mellow with cats. She was surrounded by children over the Holidays, both young and old and did wonderfully! Jiggs has never met a chin that she didn't want to kiss and her favorite thing is snuggling! She thrives on being petted and rubbed as she falls asleep on her back. Jiggs also enjoys burrowing in her blankets and rides in the car and as her energy level is increasing, she is starting to play with toys more. Jigg’s will grin when you “baby talk” to her but she will cower to raised voices. Jigg’s is learning to “sit” and “stay” and knows the verbal commands and cues “come”, “off”, “bedtime”, “hungry” “treat” and “go outside”. Jiggs is a wonderful dog with a sweet personality and she would love a home with a canine companion. She is very grateful for the attention she receives. So, who’s ready to get “jiggy” with Jiggs?

Yes, we know our new girl Gretel may look like she is old enough to be the “original” Gretel but don’t let those grayish good looks fool you- this old lady has got spunk! She is adjusting well to BTRNC Foster Care, well enough to investigate the trash can! Gretel’s owner's last wish was to know that she was in a safe place and she is. Gretel is “treat” crate trained but does not care for it one bit, especially not at night time and if she is crated too long, she may tinkle, after all she IS fourteen! She is mostly house trained if she gets to go potty often and she is leash trained. Gretel gets along great with female dogs but has not been around any “Hansels” or male dogs that we aware of. This gal will scuffle with her Foster Siblings if they try to get in food bowl, I guess she didn’t make it this long for nothin’! Gretel gives a few kisses and likes to snuggle and burrow in her blankets. She likes rides in the car and loves to lay in the sun. She is very sweet and sleeps a lot. Gretel knows a lot of verbal cues and commands such as “stay”, “come”, “off”, “go”, “eat”, “treat” and “go outside”. Once you start petting Gretel, she will let you know she wants more by swatting at your hand! So, if you live in a gingerbread house and love spunky older women, give Gretel a try!

Foxy Roxy, the "Betty White" of the Boston Terrier World is in her golden years and just now getting her second wind! Don't let her age fool you- she has all the spunk and personality you can handle and then some. She makes her Foster Family laugh frequently and then curls right up beside them on the couch and falls asleep. She leaves her Foster Sibling's in the dust! She even has a little dance she does when she meets other dogs that is known as the "Roxy Shuffle". Roxy absolutely knows that she is lucky and gives her family kisses all the time to remind them how thankful she is! Roxy, unfortunately has lived the last few years outside so she has to re-adjust to living indoors. When Roxy first arrived into BTRNC Foster Care, she was thought to have kidney disease and she would drink excessibly and urinate frequently. In the process of changing her diet, medication and enviroment to help lessen her symptoms, Roxy had to have emergency surgery for pyometra, an infected uterus which can also mimic the symptoms of kidney disease. She is home now and the vet said this could fix her problems although she may at some point become a diabetic. Please check back for updates on Roxy as she continues down the road to full recovery!

Gracie may be 8 ½ years old, but no one told her that yet, so she is still full of energy and fun.  She loves to play with her tennis ball and other toys either alone or with her foster siblings. She is a perfect lady when it comes to manners, she is not toy or food aggressive and gets along well with everyone. She is also very smart understanding a long list of commands including sit, down, stay, inside, outside, food, treat, crate, ball and drop. She was very quick to adapt to the new environment in foster care and is doing well. She would fit well in any home as she is smart, loving and adaptable.
