Sponsor a Boston Terrier in Foster Care

With veterinary bills in the thousands each month, BTRNC cannot rely solely on adoption fees and fundraisers to make ends meet.  We must look to a community of compassionate animal lovers and ask for help. Please make a donation- no amount is too small- and support our mission to make a difference one dog at a time.  Donations will be applied to the veterinary fees of the foster dog you choose to sponsor. In the unlikely event that the dog's donations exceed the cost of veterinary care, your donation will be used to help another Boson Terrier in need.

Routine veterinary care includes vaccinations, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, microchip and spay/neuter. Many of our foster dogs require more intensive veterinary care- we will post this information as applicable.

Here's how it works:

  • Select one dog or several dogs that touch your heart

  • Click on the link and make a donation through PayPal

  • Include a message for the dog you are sponsoring

  • We'll post your message and your name as our 'thank you'

BTRNC is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible

Please use this PayPal link to sponsor the dog of your choice.

*Remember to include the name of the dog  you want to sponsor in the message box.

Kenny
kenny

Age:   11-12 yrs
Sex:   male
Weight:  24 lbs
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: unknown
Good with children: Yes, not really interested
Cratetrained:  Yes for treats and food, may fuss at bedtime
Housetrained:  Yes
Health concerns:  dental disease, arthritis, spondylosis
Adoption fee: $150

Kenny is a sweet boy that just had a physical and a dental cleaning to help with the many years his teeth were neglected. The winter was hard on his bones due to some arthritis and spondylosis of the spine, but he still manages to sneak up the stairs to the big people bed! Kenny can get a little grumpy with his Foster Siblings at times so they have learned to respect his space more. Kenny can be rather reclusive but he loves his Foster Mom! He loves to eat and makes sure his Foster Mom never sleeps past breakfast time. He loves to show her the "dinner" dance by spinning around and around all the way to the kitchen! He is house and crate trained and is learning to use a doggie door! He is not a jumper or a licker. He knows his name and will come when called. Kenny loves to play tuggie with stuffy toys but does not love thunderstorms- he will shake and pant but thankfully some doggie "xanax" helps to soothe him a little bit. Kenny deserves a loving home where he can live out the rest of his senior years.

Randall ("Buddy")
randall
Age:   12-13 yrs
Sex:   male
Weight:  22 lbs
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: unknown
Good with children: Yes, loves them!
Cratetrained:  No
Housetrained:  Yes
Health concerns:  dental disease, deaf,
successful surgery for cataracts!
Adoption fee: $150

"Buddy" Randall is the light in his Foster Mom's eyes. She wishes all her canine "children" were as well behaved! Buddy loves the back yard- rolling in the grass and sunbathing! Buddy just had his physical and except for a little arthritis in his hips and being deaf, he is doing well! This old guy is even good for a teeth cleaning, ear wiping or nail trimming! It's hard to believe when Buddy first came to BTRNC Foster Care, he was blind, but after a successful cataract surgery a year ago, he is far more mobile! Buddy might ignore other dogs, taking "sass" upon meeting them but he loves, loves, loves children! He is gentle and sweet and adores all the affection he gets from them! Buddy sleeps in the bed at night and never moves but during the day he prefers a bed in the kitchen. Buddy is quite the "Social Butterfly" and loves company, wags his little "nubber" for all to see! He also loves to go for car rides to look out the windows. Buddy has also learned how to play tuggie with his toys and even has a fleece man with "Lil Buddy" on it just for him! This consummate Southern gentleman is leash and house trained and is even learning to use a doggie door.  He is not a barker or a chewer.  He does not jump or have food aggression.  Buddy will wag his whole body for a Milk-Bone and loves to follow his Foster Mom around the kitchen. He is a loving and affectionate sweetheart and is content to sit in your lap. Buddy loves people and deserves a family that will love him for the rest of his life!

Carlos continues to work with a trainer on his behavioral issues and has gotten to the point that he and his Foster Mom are on good terms now! Carlos is crate and house trained but does require a Martingale collar at all times due to his magical ability to find his way out of every other collar we've tried! Harnesses rub his skin raw so a Martingale it is! Carlos gets along with his canine siblings and all the other dogs in group training. We have not had Carlos around cats but he is not a good fit for children. We can only suspect that Carlos has had a traumatic life because his main issue continues to be trust. He is doing well and we will continue to update his progress periodically.

Jack

Jack Black, the "black" sheep of BTRNC Foster Care has been broken out of doggie jail (otherwise known as boarding!) He has his very own Foster Mom, one highly experienced in dealing with temperaments in dogs. She is happy to report that he is doing great, listening well and is easily manageable, maybe just understood. Maybe this "ugly" duckling will get treated like a beautiful swan after all! Jack is very affectionate, loves to cuddle and enjoyed his bath yesterday! Jack fell in love with his canine sibling, a female Aussie and when she got tired of his attention, she let him know and he was respectful of it! He is also enjoying the company of the toddling one-year female Boston Terrier and has also been respectful of the male canines in his new surroundings. Jack loves the backyard, over two fenced in acres, who wouldn't? but he made sure he knew where his Foster Mom was and stayed close to her. Jack is house, crate and leash trained, loves other dogs and is playful around cats. Jack will not be considered for a home with children, in his previous home, the activity of the children made him very nervous and he had a biting incident. It has since been determined that he suffers from fear aggression and may need to be introduced to new people and situations slower than most dogs sometimes. So, it looks as if this "jailbird" has got a new lease on life so check back soon to see how Jack's progress is going.

Oliver

Oliver
oliver

Age:  5 years

Sex:   male
Weight:   19 lbs
Good with dogs: sometimes

Good with cats:  no
Good with children:  no
Cratetrained:  yes
Housetrained:  unknown
Health concerns:  macular degeneration
Adoption fee: $350

If you visit our site often, you may have noticed that our Oliver here has been without a biography for quite some time now. Not unlike, Oliver Twist at all, a “waif” who too became an orphan and at some point in his life, we suspect, suffered some tremendous trauma which has made Oliver a different sort of personality. He has been in a BTRNC Foster Home (our home for orphans) for quite a while now and has demonstrated some stability in his behavior but it has taken a lot of trust to get him where he is today. Oliver is a low energy handsome boy that unfortunately suffers from macular degeneration and is almost completely blind. He suffers from some form of mental impairment as well and will at times pace back and forth for so long, it seems like he will wear the pads off of his feet and Oliver is incontinent with his feces and urine. He absolutely hates the sound of an airplane and will jump up and down and bark when he hears one. Although, he does bark when crated, he is crate trained and knows the command “get in your crate” if you are shaking the cookie box. He is not at all house trained and after numerous efforts and much patience, it does not seem that he will be due to his inability to control when he needs to go. He does walk on a leash though. Oliver can reside with other dogs and currently does but he will become aggressive if they get in his way- he cannot see them so this may cause his over sensitivity to them, he is food aggressive as well which could be related to the blindness too. Since Oliver cannot see you coming or going, it is important to stay out of his path, he doesn’t like for anyone to get in his way and may snap. Oliver has previously lived with children but we have not had him around any children or cats and do not recommend that he reside with either. Oliver will sometimes snuggle with his Foster Mom on the couch or other dogs but is not a typical snuggly, kissing Boston Terrier and much prefers to snooze in a dog bed. Oliver is going to need a home where he can just be his self, a young man with some very special needs. He likes to wander around, eat treats and will need someone caring to clean up after him. If you would like to help a special needs Boston, please consider our orphan, Oliver.

I know, you took one look at those eyebrows and thought “Groucho” but this curious, laid-back, head-cocking "love-bug" is NO Grouch! His name is Topper and he is on “topp-er” the scale so far as good looking boys go! Topper used to have to “sing” for his supper but now he is living the life of luxury and snores like crazy with a smile on his face! Topper does like to be near his people all the time and when they are in the shower, he is sitting on the floor when they get out! He doesn’t have to be in your face but near you and you have to watch that he isn’t “underfoot” so you don’t trip on him! Topper is house trained and has knowledge of how to use a doggy door. He is also crate trained but he does not care for it and may cry. He does pull a little bit on his leash but he is currently taking a refresher course in “to pull or not to pull” and he is not a barker. He gets along with his canine siblings and even when they growl at him, he just ignores them! He does not do well with cats but is good with older children.  He does not jump on them. Topper has a slightly enlarged heart but the vet is not concerned about this after thorough investigation.  It is thought to be a result of the heartworms that he has completed treatment for. Topper also had a lung "cleaning" procedure to correct some problems that the heartworms had created and it worked.  His breathing is excellent now! His medication made him very hungry and thirsty and he put on some lbs! He is large but very gentle and easy going.  There is just more of him to love than the average size Boston Terrier! He does need to lose around 10 lbs and maintain his proper weight. His previous Foster Mom thought Topper’s name should have been “Houdini” because he could unlock his crate and the door latch on the porch! Topper is a lover - he loves kisses; to give and receive.  He loves any toy, blankets, snuggling, fetch, riding in the car and being petted by anyone, anytime, anyplace! Oh, yeah and treats, this boy loves to eat! He is one smart boy and knows the verbal cues and commands “sit”, “come”, “walk”, “eat”, “treat”, “outside” and “crate”. Topper also prefers a soft spoken tone over a loud voice and when you correct him, he listens! When Topper came into Foster Care, he was bonded with a female that found her new home rather quickly. He is still searching for her and his new family, preferably a home with another dog to play with, a fenced in yard and someone who can be home a lot. This Groucho look-alike is NO grouch, a lover, not a fighter and is looking for someone to love him!

See SPOT run, See SPOT play. See SPOT return to BTRNC? Huh? Well, it's true, Spot is making a return appearance. Spot is crate, leash and house trained and gets along with submissive dogs and seems to prefer male dogs over females. He has not been around cats or children that we are aware of. He does have a few “jumping beans” so younger children would not be the best fit for Spot. When Spot first got back to Foster Care, he used to try and show you how fast "Spot can run!" when he saw an open door but he doesn't try to go out anymore, what a good boy! Although Spot was very well adjusted and behaved at his BTRNC Foster Home, he had some trouble fitting into the pack at his new home and he began to exhibit dominant and aggressive behaviors toward them and his owner. Spot must have a firm voice and strong leadership at all times so his place in the pack is understood always.  He has, once again adjusted well in Foster Care and shows little to no signs of dominance and plays well with his canine siblings. Spot loves to strut through the house with his blankie trailing behind him! Spot also uses his blanket to comfort himself by nursing on it when he is upset or afraid. Sometimes Spot will exhibit signs of fear aggression around strangers but as long as he is introduced slowly, he does very well with them. Spot loves to give kisses and play with any kind of toy- bones, balls, kongs, ropes and likes to “fetch” and “tug”. Spot likes to snuggle with his people in the big bed before he gets into his crate for the night. He also loves outings in the car, the dog park and has even been hiking! He loves the water and to go wading in it! Well, Spot learned a lot from his storybook days- he is really smart as long as you are firm with him consistently…he will “sit”, “come”, stay “off” and “go to bed”, he is also learning “stay” and “leave it”. Spot knows the words “go/bye-bye”, “hungry/eat”, “treat/cookie” and “go outside”. He watches his people constantly and wants to please and learn. He would love a family that is home a lot and would take him everywhere, providing him with toys galore! Spot is looking for a new “Dick and Jane” so he can write his own storybook ending, take two-

CHICO- the Spanish word for boy is the name of this half Boston Terrier, half Beagle Mix that has adjusted well to his new life in BTRNC Foster Care. Chico came to BTRNC with a partner named Newman but it turns out all they did was fight! Newman has found his forever home so now it is Chico’s turn! Chico is crate trained and will retreat to his crate anytime he thinks he is in trouble or when he hears loud voices. He is house trained but did mark a few times when he first arrived to his new Foster Home- he was corrected with the command “no” and he hasn’t repeated this behavior. Chico could use a refresher course in “leash walking 101” because he wants to go where he wants to go and tries to pull you along! Chico apparently missed his socialization class also because he likes to try and mount any and all dogs, again a simple “no” command has been successful in stopping this behavior when it is happening. We have recently discovered that Chico is very good with children and loves them! We have not observed him around any cats. Chico can go from extremely excited to docile and loving in a heartbeat! He likes to gives kisses, be petted and he wants to snuggle with you and will let other dogs cuddle with him. He loves to burrow in his blankets anytime and go exploring and sniffing outside or at the dog park. He always seems to have a smile on his face and wants to keep the attention of the people around him. He has learned a few commands such as “sit” and “go outside” and he will respond to “come” sometimes! If you stand beside his crate and call him, he will go inside. Chico is looking for a forever family where he can get a lot of human attention, someone to walk him and play chase in the fenced in yard. He would like a canine companion to play with as well.

Austin found his place in his BTRNC Foster Home in record time! He and his puppy attitude just wanted to get settled and start playing and playing and playing with his canine siblings! Austin is house trained by the use of a doggy door and is still learning leash behavior and he is now crate trained. He gets along great with other dogs as long as they are not aggressive, this will only trigger aggression in him so he avoids those dogs. He also tries to keep his larger canine pals in line sometimes too! Austin plays too rough to be around younger children and he hates cats! Due to the fact that Austin was improperly socialized with the world around him, he does show a bit of anxiety when faced with new situations. He apparently had never seen a bird or a squirrel and they frightened him to the point that he had a mild seizure from trembling so hard. The vet can find no other reason for the seizure and reports that he is very healthy. He is used to the critters now and no other incidents have happened thankfully! Austin loves hugs, belly rubs and his bed or the people bed when he is tired! He also likes to snuggle and reacts very positively to most everything! He has a sweet grin on his face whenever he climbs into his Foster Mom’s lap! He likes toys- his favorite is a wubba Kong. Austin is looking for an active family that will have time to play with him and a canine playmate for companionship! He would love a fenced in yard also!

ducky

Isn't he "JUST DUCKY?" Well, as a matter of fact, he is DUCKY, a “lucky” Ducky at that! Doesn’t look like any duck that we’ve ever seen but his name fits his “mellow-yellow” personality! Ducky spent the first part of his life in a backyard making baby “duckies” so Ducky is a work in progress with his crate and house training but he is making great progress! Ducky sleeps in the “people” bed all night long with his Foster Family under the covers and during the day he stays confined to one area with his canine pals. Ducky is leash trained and enjoys his walks and is starting to get excited when he sees his leash! Ducky has a calm temperament and gets along well with dogs when he goes to “doggie daycare”. He currently resides with two female Schnoodles- they are probably wondering what kind of duck he is like we are and he is probably wondering where they got their funny name from! He is submissive with the girls and if they want his bone, he just lets them take it! Ducky likes to chase his feline housemates but he is not aggressive, he’s just trying to figure out if they are another rare breed of duck too! Ducky has not been around children while in this Foster Home but he was adopted previously and returned to BTRNC Foster Care after a nipping accident with the children in the home. Ducky gets spooked easily and does not like sudden movements, loud voices, or to be picked up from behind or unexpectedly so he will not be considered for a home with children in the future. If you are calm around Ducky and he understands that you will not harm him, you will have a friend for life that brings you joy! Ducky has what appears to be a grass allergy and he licks his paws after being outdoors.  He is taking Benadryl for this condition. He also has a fuzzy mark in one eye that the vet is confident will go away and he is receiving eye drops for currently. Turns out that that Ducky is a lovey little ducky.  He is starting to give a few kisses and will snuggle with his Foster Family from time to time. He loves his own blanket and bed too and he can snore with the best of them! He is very attached to his “Papa” and follows him everywhere around the house. Ducky is learning a few tricks from watching his canine sisters.  He knows he gets a “cookie” after going outside and he is the first one to greet you at the door with a bark and a smile! He is loving being able to explore the back yard freely and on a recent trip to the mountains, had a great time! Ducky needs a mellow home to match his mellow-yellow “ducky” personality! He needs nurturing after living most of his life cooped up and having to “sing” for his supper. Ducky would love a canine for companionship as long as they are not aggressive towards him. So, who’s the “lucky ducky” that’s gonna make our Ducky “lucky” and give him a family of his very own?

Taco Grande

Sex:   male
Weight:  24 lbs
Good with dogs: yes

Good with cats:  unknown
Good with children:  yes
Cratetrained:  yes
Housetrained:  yes
Health concerns:  luxating patella (r), allergies (flounder, peanuts)
Adoption fee: $350

Looks like TACO made "a run for the border" and found himself without a home! This laid back boy is house and crate trained and might give his leash or harness a nibble when you try and get him ready for a walk. Taco gets along well with all his canine siblings. He is the passive one of the group, so passive that he was even letting the other dogs eat his food so now he eats in his crate! He is doing great considering he came from a “one dog” home and now is having to learn how to fit into a pack. He just barks at the others when he wants to play with them! Taco is great with kids but we have not observed his behavior around cats at this time. Taco has recently had surgery on his left luxating patella and has fully recovered. His right luxating patella will be addressed in January. Taco does have some food allergies to flounder and peanuts and could possibly be allergic to mulch because it causes his front legs to turn red. Rough housing will also turn his front legs red. His eyes get red towards the end of the day but a good nap will fix him right up and he has a special shampoo to help with the redness if it doesn't go away on it's own. This boy is one hundred percent Boston who is sweet, cute, silly, smart and fun but he is a Retriever at heart! He loves to play fetch and actually brings it back! Gold stars for Taco! He also loves to stand behind you while he shakes his toys as close to your ankles as possible so you always know where he is! He loves a good car ride, basking in the sun or curling up on a nice warm lap. Of course, Taco gives kisses like most Boston Terriers, but Taco is good at controlling his “licker!” Taco also does that famous Boston “head tilt” to funny noises and makes his own funny noises too, almost like he thinks he talking with you! Taco is very treat driven and has learned a lot of commands quickly- he knows “sit”, “come”, “down”, “off” and “in your cage” and he recognizes the words “go”, “eat”, “treat”, “outside” and “go peepee”. He has almost mastered “stay” and “leave it”, sounds like a smart Taco all except for that whole paper eating thing! He also likes to rip the tags off of things- his Foster Mom is working hard with him on these behaviors! Paper eating aside, Taco is one fantastic young man that will be a GREAT addition to any family! He would love a fenced in yard, some children for playmates and maybe a canine sibling although he would be fine on his own. So…..who loves TACO’s?

Here in the South, the name JUNIOR can mean a few things- there is Junior from Hee-Haw and the Jr. to somebody’s Sr. and then, well there’s just “JR” and if you don’t know who that is- you definitely aren’t from around here! His Foster Mom says that his name could have also been Malcolm because he always wants to be "in the middle'! Well, our Junior here has come back after being gone awhile- seems there was too much activity for him where he was so we’ll try again! He is the perfect dog in the right environment. Junior is leash, crate and house trained but is not crated when his people are away and has never had an accident. He gets along with dogs that are around his level of activity, even a dominant Doberman, but his attention span for playtime is about five minutes- that’s it and then time for a nap! He does not care for playful pups or playful children and may snap at them to let them know he is finished with playtime. Junior is a little hyper when first meeting someone new and Junior will not be considered for a home with children. He does get along with cats and will even play with them when he is the mood. Junior does try to bolt out the door when he gets a chance but just like one of his namesakes “JR” - he just wants to go for a ride! Junior is a lover- his Foster Mom refers to him as a “serial kisser” and he is a snuggle bug. Junior does not play with toys but likes to nest on pillows or blankets. He is a smart boy and knows how to “sit” for a treat and will “come” if you call his name. He also knows the words “ride” and “go outside”. When Junior is waiting for his food, he wiggles his whole body and when you find that good “scratching” spot, he marches his back legs up and down! Junior is looking for a forever home without children or young animals, he would like a canine companion that is middle aged like himself that likes to play for a minute and then take a nap with him! He also needs someone he can kiss- a lot! So, if you need a Jr. to your Sr. or you just know who “JR” is, then this just might be your boy!

Maxwell has been referred to by his vet as the “perfect” Boston Terrier. His markings are beautiful and his appearance is show quality. The vet techs couldn’t get enough of this striking lad and even followed him to the car with treats. We are sure that Maxwell did not object - he does like attention! Maxwell has adjusted well to his new life in BTRNC Foster Care and although he was surrendered for aggression issues, we have not seen any sign of this since he has been in our care. Maxwell loves his crate and will spin 180 degrees in the air to go for a walk. He is house trained except for him thinking he needs to continue to mark his new territory.  This continues to be a work in progress! Maxwell currently resides with two ladies, a senior Boston Terrier and a Shepherd Lab mix, and he gets along great with them. Maxwell has an obsession with squirrels so we do not feel like he would be the best fit with cats.  His former owners state that he got along with them but we have not observed this. Maxwell currently lives with an older child and does great with him.  The previous owners state that he did well with younger children but we have not observed this. Since Maxwell is on the smaller side, any interaction with children should be observed so that Maxwell does not get stepped on or hurt. Maxwell does cower around loud voices, quick arm or hand movements, or when he thinks he is in trouble. It takes him a little time to warm up to strangers as well. He likes to be the center of attention and will push his way in front of his canine pals to be first in line!  Once Maxwell feels he can trusts you, he will be your best kisser and snuggler! He loves to burrows in his blankets and to go for a good ride in the car. He has a great active energy level and enjoys a good game of “tug” and “fetch” or chewing on bones but he settles down easily. Maxwell also entertains himself when his Foster Family is occupied or he will engage himself into whatever they are doing. Maxwell is very intelligent and has quickly become familiar with the following commands and verbal cues- “sit”, “come”, “leave it”, “in your crate”, “walk” and “go outside”. He is also learning a few others. Maxwell will be your “perfect” Boston Terrier if you’ll let him!

Sam, Sam… Sam I am… is adjusting well to life in BTRNC Foster Care after living as a stray. Sam is what's known as a "splash" Boston Terrier meaning that he is mostly white or that his markings are reversed- whatever he is, he's a good looking boy! Sam is crate trained but sleeps on the sofa at night and he is now house trained. He could use a little refresher course in "leash training 101" because he does pull a little bit on his lead. Sam is the alpha male in his current pack and gets along with his canine siblings just fine and ignores the resident felines. He gets along well with children too! Sam, like a lot of rescued dogs this year is heartworm positive, his result was a weak positive and he is on a “slow-kill” method of treatment. Sam recently had surgery to correct a luxating patella in his right leg. They were able to remove the arthritis associated with the injury but it will eventually return. He is now using the leg about half of the time and this has been quite the adjustment because of how long he had to live without using it. His lack of using his leg never did slow him down if he saw an open door in sight and this will need to be monitored! Sam loves bones, constant petting and riding in the car. He loves to sit in his Foster Mom's lap and gives a few kisses. Sam has learned a few commands and verbal cues such as "come", "leave it", "off", "no", "go", "eat", "treat", "go outside" and "crate" when there is a treat involved! Sam wiggles on his back when he first wakes up and used to frequently have an "Eeyore" doom and gloom look on his face but as he is feeling better, he is "smiling" and playing more! Sam is looking for his very own family with or without children, his only requirement is a lap to sit in and a sofa to sleep on!

Weight:  23 lbs
Good with dogs: females only

Good with cats:  unknown
Good with children:  yes
Cratetrained:  no
Housetrained:  yes
Health concerns: none
Adoption fee: $350

Romeo, Romeo, Wherefore Art Thou Romeo? Why, he's right here in BTRNC Foster Care! Romeo is house trained but he is not leash or crate trained and much prefers the “people” bed when given that option! Romeo currently lives with another Boston Terrier, a Shepherd and a Shi-poo. After a lengthy "get to know each other" period, it is clear that Romeo prefers female dogs although he was surrendered for fighting with his last “Juliet”. We have seen no signs of aggression towards any females while in our care. He has not been around cats and he is quite the “jumping bean” when first introduced to children, although he did previously live with teenagers. Romeo will bark at his Foster Mom when visitors, especially men, come over until she convinces him that they won’t hurt him and then he is fine! He just needs a little reassurance. Romeo is a lover - you might’ve guessed - and he will shower you with kisses whenever given the chance! He will snuggle with you and other dogs and he sleeps under his blanket on the couch. Romeo loves stuffies and balls and playing “tug” and “fetch”. When running towards you with a toy, he hops on his front two legs! He was a little nervous riding in the car but now he likes it! He also will cower at loud voices or raised hands. He has been busy learning a few commands and verbal cues such as “sit”, “leave it”, “go”, “hungry”, “treat” and “go outside”. Romeo is used to his people being home a lot of the day but he isn't a needy boy and he loves the company of a female canine companion. He loves the fenced in yard and would love a family that would keep him active and busy!

Lucky sure is one LUCKY boy! He has adjusted well to life in BTRNC Foster Care! This “Count Dracula” look-a-like is house trained but because his Foster Dad is gone for twelve hours, he is potty pad trained also. Lucky is such a good dog.  He does not have to be crated and sleeps in the “people” bed at night. He is also leash trained. Lucky lives with two other Boston Terriers and a Boxer and he gets along great with all of them. We have not observed his behavior around cats or children though. He is currently finishing up some steroids for an ear infection but other than that Lucky is A-OK! Lucky is slowing warming up and is starting to give a few kisses. He loves playing “fetch” and with a squeaky toy and tennis ball. Lucky has an adorable under-bite and one flopped over ear and knows how to “sit”. He would love a family that would play fetch with him and he needs the companionship of a canine pal. So, anybody feeling LUCKY?

Austin

When Austin first arrived to BTRNC Foster Care, he was busy convalescing from a spine and hind quarter injury although it is hard to tell that now! At times, his hind quarters can be shaky and weak and we are currently considering some physical therapy for Austin. He should not be allowed to try and jump although he can and he is able to manage stairs now. Austin is house and crate trained but he does pull on his lead. Austin gets along with his canine siblings and plays with everyone! He has interacted with his Foster Mom's granddaughter and does well, he has no reservations when meeting new people that we have seen. We have not observed his behavior around cats. Austin does require a prescription diet because he has severe food allergies and well as seasonal ones, he cannot have any grains or gluten in his diet and his seasonal allergies are under control this time of year. Austin has to take unflavored heartworm preventative each month. Austin has an infection accompanied by a cherry eye currently, the vet is hoping both will clear themselves up with the medication he is on. Austin has learned a way of getting your attention which is quite smart, you must admit! If he knows you are in the house but he does not know where, he will howl until you speak to him so he can find you! He chooses not to waste his energy conducting a search! He loves plush toys and once he is finished beating them on the ground, he nurses on them! Austin loves to burrow in his blankets and snuggle with people and other dogs. He also enjoys giving kisses, riding in the car, visiting the dog park and will frequently bring you his food dish! Austin has learned how to “sit” and recognizes the word “hungry”. Austin is looking for a family that will love him in spite of his limitations, possibly a home without stairs. Austin would like a playful companion, human or canine and a nice warm spot in your lap to cuddle in.

Meet our first calendar boy "Q" as in "Q-Pid" in honor of Valentine’s Day but also known as Nick after “St. Nick” since he came into BTRNC Foster Care during the Christmas season. This “splash” marked sweet guy is crate trained and house trained for the most part although he does still mark infrequently. “Q” loves his canine siblings and wants to play with them but sometimes the dominate male comes out in him and they might fight.  He thinks everything is “his” and “his alone” and can also be food and toy aggressive so he should be an only dog. He is not good around cats and has never been around children but he loves to be with adults. “Q-Pid” is a kisser (of, course!), a snuggler and loves to be held and rocked. He enjoys rides in the car, running after balls (and not returning them!), playing “tug” and chewing on bones and stuffies. He knows the verbal cues “in your crate” and “go outside”. “Q” is a great dog and with all this love in the air, who doesn’t need their very own “Q-Pid?”

Good with cats:  curious

Welcome "Zeemon" or just "Zee" for short! This young man came into BTRNC Foster Care with a prolapsed rectum that needed quick repair and unfortunately, like a lot of us in this economy, his family could not afford the surgery. He has had that issue repaired and after a removal and biopsy on his chest tumor came back benign, Zee is a happy and healthy boy and so are we! Zee is house trained and also knows how to use a doggy door! He is crate trained but there has never been a need to close the door- he is that well behaved! He is also leash trained although his Foster Mom does confess that it is hard to put him down long enough for him to walk on a leash but he has been well trained and gives no problems when he does have his paws on the ground! He does love a good walk but also loves to get back to the house and show off to the others! Zee gets along with other dogs and will only ever get upset if they try to take his bones from the butcher… and then he gets seriously upset but play fights more than actual fighting. He is very curious about cats through the fence but that is as close as he has gotten under our care. Zeemon is too playful and not recommended for younger children but he loves to cuddle and play with older ones that he has met. Zee is a snuggler, a kisser, a burrower, a fetcher and a tugger but he is best at being a bone chewer! He is very smart and knows the following commands and verbal cues “sit”, “stay”, “come”, “down”, “go”, “eat”, “treat” and “go inside”. His Foster Mom says that he “too cute” because he grins and climbs like a monkey, looks like a panda bear and stands up like a meerkat! Zee needs a family that will treat him gently and with a soft touch, he does not like being rough housed with and will “play the day away” in a genteel manner. Zee could adapt to any family that will love and cuddle him and buy him bones from the butcher!

Beckett is adjusting well to his new life in BTRNC Foster Care. He is one of the easiest and sweetest boys his Foster Mom has had and only wants to be loved! Beckett is now crate trained but if he is crated too long, he may leave you a little tinkle! He is house trained as long as he is allowed to go outside and potty often. He is leash trained and loves to run in the back yard! One of Beckett’s eyes has been removed but we are not sure why. Beckett give kisses, snuggles and plays with stuffies and likes to ride in the car and burrow is his blankets. Beckett will come when you call his name and does what he is asked to do! So, who wants a little love from Beckett?

One meaning behind the name Dexter is “fortunate” and we would have to say that applies to any rescued dog- after all, who wouldn’t want a second chance at a new life? Dexter has been the sweetest boy since arriving in BTRNC Foster Care and is house, crate and leash trained and gets along with his canine siblings just fine. Dexter will chase cats if he sees one but we have not observed his behavior around children. Dexter loves to be held and is so cute to watch. He knows the following verbal cues and commands “sit”, “come”, “off”, “in your crate”, “go outside” and “quiet” when he plays too loudly. Dexter would make a “perfect” addition as he is the “perfect” little Boston Terrier and any family would be “fortunate” to have him!

Read Bullwinkle's blog!

Bullwinkle is a sweet lovebug and is very obedient. He loves sleeping in the "people" bed at night with his humans, and will give you a big kiss when you wake up in the morning and snuggle on your shoulder. He is house, leash and crate trained and knows the command “kennel”. In his previous foster home, he got along well with his pack of Foster Siblings but would sometimes raise his hackles at the older male Lab! He is wonderful with the young children in his Foster Home, very sweet and calm and doesn’t jump on them. Bullwinkle has not been around cats that we are aware of. This furry fellow has come along way in BTRNC Foster Care, when he first arrived, he wouldn’t make eye contact and seemed very depressed and it took him a few days to warm up. Now, he stares at them like he loves them more than anything else in the whole world and snuggles beside his people as close as he can get and gives kisses! It took him awhile to jump up on the couch, turns out that he was just waiting for an invitation! Bullwinkle sneezes when he gets excited and he loves for people to visit and talk to him and of course, rub his back, neck and belly! He also enjoys rawhides and bones but hasn’t shown much interest in other toys. Bullwinkle is not a fan of loud noises and may flinch. He is busy learning more commands such as “sit” and “come” and he knows a lot of words- “are you hungry?”, “do you want a treat?” and “let’s go outside”. Bullwinkle is such a laid back dog and will fit into many different families. So, who wants to give Bullwinkle a chance?
